New Lonely Island (Feat. Julian Casablancas) - "Boombox"

thubmnail icon: New Lonely Island (Feat. Julian Casablancas) - "Boombox"

In anticipation of INCREDIBAD, Lonely Island's send-ups are arriving rapid fire. This new track, which has the Strokes man lending his pipes, is less "Jizz In My Pants," more "I'm On A Boat," at least via its initial posh, old-money country club setting. The protagonist shows up to the stuffy, boiled-goose-and-sauerkraut-scented affair and learns a boombox can change the world: "Everything got out of control / the music was so entrancing, everyone got out on the floor / it was a bunch of old white people dancing." The power goes to his head, though, and he decides to try the same thing at an old-folks' home. This is when things get sticky.

That photo has nothing to do with the song, though it does come from the INCREDIBAD promo materials. Speaking of which: SNL did a proper video for "I'm On A Boat" this week. Keep your eyes peeled.

INCREDIBAD is out 2/10 via Universal.

Julian is sounding good. This, however, is not that funny; they've done better.

Julian = GOD. This song equals "mailed in" though. Julian actually makes this a work of art though he is so talented.

This stuff is funny when accompanied by a video, but I find it hard to enjoy on its own.

I like it. It's supposed to be cheesy and full of ridiculousness. Although this is a critiquing website of music quality/originality, this song obviously fails in the form, but looking at it from a comedic standpoint, I think it's hilarious.

agree with Dave...these really do need videos to be the least bit entertaining. Cool to see Casablancas lend his golden pipes to something like this, though.

The last 2/3 of this song are awesome. Especially once the boiled goose joke starts making sense. Now I'm even more excited for this album! Yay!

that was pretty funny, seemed like it would suck and then suddenly got funny

the fact that julians hook sounded so good kinda makes me wish this was a serious song though because i would listen to it lots as opposed to once...

What's the obsession with boiled goose all about?

But yeah I could really use a new Strokes album after hearing that.

"Wow is this website the "I want to suck Julian Casablancas' dick" website?"

well, seeing as how he is a genius and the only good thing about the song, you need to get over yourself and admit that you too would love to have Julian's dick in your mouth

This makes me insanely excited. I love The Lonely Island, and The Strokes in my opinion is one of the best bands ever. I thought this was hilarious, and I probably will listen to it over and over like it is a serious song Incredibad is amazing. Also I want a fourth album strokes, let's get to it!

I think this, like other funny songs deserves more than one listen and quick judgement. I think it's hilarious, plus Julian's vocals superb. The cherry on the top of a funny premise. Give it a freaking break people.
