New Miguel Mendez - "Drinking Beer"

Scott threw this album in front of me and said, "Anything called 'My Girlfriend Is Melting' can't be bad."

He was right. Mendez has been getting some airplay on WFMU and WNYU, in anticipation of his album's October release. He's also gotten a little attention from the blogs. The bottom line is, if you like Elliott Smith or Hayden, you'll almost certainly like this whole album.

Miguel's pretty good. I used to drive delivery with a guy named Miguel. He drank a lot of beer. But not when he drove. But maybe before he drove.

Sounds like Damien Jurado or the more melodic sides of Akron/Family

Not a bad start. Tends to rip off Anton Newcombe and Brian Jonestown Massacre too much, but a pleasant listen nevertheless. Good stoner folk for people who used to like Beck.
