New Morrissey - "I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris"

thumbnail icon: New Morrissey - "I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris"

Based on fan-captured YouTubes of Moz's newest songs, our expectations for Years Of Refusal have been high. When we posted about the Jacksonville live debut of this first single in July of 2007, even the queasy camerawork couldn't keep us from getting excited for the real deal. Better 17 months later than never, although aside from an engine rev intro it sounds pretty similar. Don't be fooled by the cheerful melody, he's getting amorous with city of lights because only stone and steel accept his love: "Nobody needs my love/ Nobody wants my love," etc. In case your holidays weren't lonely enough...

Years Of Refusal is out 2/17 on Attack/Lost Highway. 2009 US tour begins later that month.

Does this new single feature Boz Boorer skronking saxophone work?

Boz already looks like a blow fish... no need to make his cheeks any bigger by "skronking saxophone work". BTW Boz and Moz rule!

We're on semi-vacation this week, so you'll have to wait a little longer than usual.

what, Morrissey is straight? i thought he was gay, or had given up on sex, or something like that.

The most Morrissey-like joy I've received recently is Shins doing Magnetic Fields "Strange Powers",,,

Who cares if he is gay or straight. It's all about the music isn't it?

I just found this on the web:
The baby pictured with Morrissey on the cover of Years of Refusal is Sebastien Pesel-Browne, who is the son of Charlie Browne, who has been Morrissey's Assistant Tour Manager for many years. Sebastien's mother (Susan) met Charlie at a Morrissey concert in Boston.

It gets a little better if you read the title as "I'm Throwing My Arms Around Penis."

Surprised by the sound that recalls VIVA HATE or the excellent VAUXHALL. The melody that leads the song is high quality. To be continued...
