New Muse - "United States Of Eurasia" Muse released "United States Of Eurasia" in six parts via their fan community so it would take six times longer to realize they'd become a Queen cover band. Take a listen. The Resistance, the group's fifth album, is out 9/14.

First they were Radiohead. Now they are Queen (as if the incredibly obvious Queen outbursts aren't absolutely tongue in cheek). I would rather have a band who pushes themselves too far, then all of the bands out there struggling so hard to sound so goddamned alike. Say what you will about Muse, but don't tell me they are copying everyone else. Besides, Queen was an amazing band, and in these times more than ever, we could use a little excess.

They've gone to some lengths to distance themselves from those early Radiohead comparisons with this sort of thing. I didn't think they'd be able to make me laugh as much as I did when I first heard Knights of Cydonia but they prove me wrong! Keep 'em coming you crazy bastards...

Sounds like they want to make a musical. The song is ridiculous, but at the same time I can't wait to see these guys live again.

it's cool, different and (kind of) fresh, though i do hear queen all over this. obviously a 1984 reference, so i dig it even more.

A big part of me was really hoping you guys were exaggerating... the truth is hard to swallow.

Makes me go :(

I thought comparing them to a "Queen Tribute Band" was a terribly rude thing to say until I listened to the song and realized that yep, indeed they are.

they obviously consider it a challenge before the whole human race / that they'll never lose... their complete originality. Oh well, I agree they covered Radiohead on their first album, then covered themselves (on repeat) on their last album, so at least they're broadening their horizons somehow. They are the champions, my friends

The thing about Muse is that you can tell they put a lot of effort into their music and that every member of the band is a highly skilled musician. But their lyrical content is just cringe-worthy; it's all conspiracy theory sci-fi bullshit that fantasises about overthrowing totalitarian governments. Their last three albums are filled with it, and after hearing this song and reading titles such as 'The Resistance', 'Uprising' and 'Unnatural Selection' it appears their forthcoming effort will be too.

Man you guys are a bunch of haters. They're obviously not trying to hide the queen in this track, but it doesn't mean they're a "Queen cover band" now as Stereogum's excellent journalist put it. Do you honestly think the rest of the songs are going to sound like this anyway?

Has anyone ever listened to Queen? Aside from the multi-tracked vocals that are reminiscent of 'Bohemian Rhapsody" (which are also used to better effect in "Knights of Cydonia", and probably the only song anyone of you is referencing when saying they sound like Queen), this doesn't sound like any Queen song I have ever heard, and neither does anything else in Muse's catalog. This song really is not very good though, and their lyrics are pretty much cringe-worthy. That being said what else does anyone expect from Muse? They are a bombastic ROCK band. Not everyone is gonna sound weird/mopey like Deerhunter, or so mellow like Grizzly Bear (Which most of you will turn your back on when it is not hip to like them anymore anyway.) Muse is about being operatic, anthemic and having fun, and you know what? That is ok sometimes Pitchfork Nation! At least they are different enough that they don't sound like Nickleback, or some garbage like that.
