Okay, I feel like I lost IQ points reading this stupid commentary on MCR. So now I have to comment.
First point: all you you little kiddies who think you are majorly HXC need to shut your goddamned mouths about his hair and the costumes. I'm really ashamed to be 14 and call myself a part of a generation where people can't get past physical appearance and appreciate music. I thought this was about MCR's new music. If you want to make stupid comments about clothes, hair, make-up, etc., go be a fashion critic.
Second, all this "WTF THIS IZ SO GAY ZOMG" needs to stop. I may be blatantly ripping off Pete Wentz here, but when exactly DID gay become a synonym for shitty?
Now I will move onto the video. No, I'm not a huge fan of the song or video. The song is pretty boring in my opinion. The beginning piano bit seems cheesy and it's too long. But the end gets it moving along and redeems the song. The video, I have mixed feelings about. I really like Sam Beard or whatever his name is, his work with Green day was great, and I think he brought that into "Parade". The imagery was pretty cool, the costumes went well the with theme and the special effects weren't bad like they are in alot of videos. However, the "gray skies and gray faces" thing is a little tired. I would've liked to have seen something a bit more Helena-ish, the polished filming with bright colors and constast and stuff kind of gives things a more surreal look.
However, I know I'm almost a month late on this, but for those who haven't heard the CD yet and are still worried that Parade is a big reflection of the overall effort, worry no more. The Black Parade is insane. MCR may not have made some major leap, but it's defnitely a big step in a new direction. They took what they accomplished with Bullets and Three Cheers and brought new elements into it. I personally like it better than Three Cheers, they stopped with the synthy thing, let Gerard sing in his own range and stopped cleaning up the guitars so much. It's got some poppier stuff on it, although alot of tracks hold true to their roots. I don't think any real fans will be disappointed with it.
