New Nada Surf: "Do It Again"

Download via Barsuk:
Nada Surf - "Do It Again"

Sadly not a Steely Dan cover.

Also, make sure to keep your hair spotless and clean. Wash it at least every two weeks. ONCE EVERY TWO WEEKS.

OK, sorry for the "Popular" flashback. By now these guys oughta be known for Let Go. If you don't own that, go buy it. Here's a cut:

"let go" is one of my most fav CDs ever. it's so beautiful front to back. the new nada surf isn't as good, but it has its moments. "do it again" is probably the best song on the CD.

saw nada surf open for rilo kiley and they were so incredibly dull. i felt like if there was a definition for generic indie rock, that was it. i caught some lyric about staring at a fly and then going to a basement.

painful. i just don't get their appeal.

when you live in alberta, canada and nothing ever comes to town and you see the marquee read "rilo kiley"... you do it.

damn... rilo kiley played alberta? i moved away from calgary for nothing then... 'cause, you know, it was the lack of concerts that drove me away. oh, and nada surf are weirdly bland indie music. not good, not bad... just... there

I don't know if they do it at every show, but Nada Surf finished their set in Paris (in June) with "Popular", which really seemed to thrill the crowd. So at least it seems like they have a sense of humor about it.

Nada surf only stays alive because Ira's a half decent lay and keeps a willing fangirl "happy" in every town - he seems to have the eye to spot the ones who will evangelize - and I say this because I've been her and I've met some of the others. (Not my proudest moment, but def. one of the funniest.)

thanks for this! i saw nada back in june with kasabian, the raveonettes, pinback and rocket from the crypt, a little early summer indie jam thing put on by our (local) radio station. ...after about four (or five?) coronas drank in two hours time, they sounded good, but i'm not sure if it was the band or the booze.

one of the guitar players was chain smoking whilst playing, and i'm not sure if he was trying to channel carlos d's smoking thingy at the time or just on a nicotine binge.

I absolutely LOVE Nada Surf's second album "Proximity Effect". Once drove two hours to see them when that album wasn't even out in the states yet. There were about 6 people there but they still rocked my face off and even played my requests, and gave me a free copy of Proximity when I told them I had ordered an import copy for $30. In conclusion, I love me some Nada Surf...

"Let Go" is such an amazing album. I agree, if you haven't heard it, get it. You will not regret it.

I bought this album on a whim in a time in my life when I was sleeping around a lot after I had moved home and broken up with my longtime girlfriend. It made me realize what I had cheapened in my life while I was trying so hard to accomplish some commercial successes that really weren't ever important to me anyway. It gave me an appreciation of what trully mattered to me definitely helped me pull out of the tailspin I was in.
