New Old Rivers Cuomo - "I Want To Take You Home Tonight"

thubmnail icon: New Old Rivers Cuomo - "I Want To Take You Home Tonight"

Recorded in 2002, "I Want To Take You Home Tonight" won't set any world records, but the morose pickup song about a one-night stand has a pleasing, droning, droopy dog feel about it. (If you remember this mustached thumbnail picture, a one-night stand with Cuomo could also be pretty creepy.) The track will ostensibly show up on the second collection of solo demos, Alone II: The Home Recordings.

( Via P4K)

Cuomo (and Brian Bell) debuted the track the old-fashioned way: On the radio. While visiting a Y-Rock on XPN Radio Takeover, they also went in-depth about The Red Album (like why they chose the color red) and Weezer's current live presentation. You can scroll for the playlist here.

Alone II: The Home Recordings is out 11/25 via Universal.

Good song, better news. I thoroughly enjoyed the first home recordings and can't wait for the second.

Wait, this was recorded in 2002? I liked that better than anything on Maladroit

Man, these old Weezer songs really break my heart. Purification of Water, Paper Face, Prettiest Girl, Walt Disney... man what the hell happened to Weezer? Bah, I could philosophize about Rivers and that damned band all day..

Come to think of it, I wish Rivers had included some more "Rivers Cuomo Band" tracks (if there are any more that he recorded). I would love a real version of "1000 years".
