New Paul Simon Video - "Outrageous"

PRO: Rhymin' Simon may be a better rapper than K-Fed.
CON: This song is still pretty terrible.

Anyway, pretty colors: watch here (QT).

Is now a good time to mention we're Edie Brickell fans?

Yep. Destroying our indie cred one post at a time, folks.

I love Paul Simon, but has any artist gone down the tubes as suddenly as he has? His ability to write melodies has simply disappeared. His lyrics are still okay, but there's just no tunes behind them anymore. His last two albums aren't even listenable, and believe me, I've tried hard...

There are some great cuts on the new Paul Simon Album, which was produced by Brian Eno - 'Outrageous' isn't one of 'em

Destroying your indie cred is, like, so...indie.

i think the fact that half of your posts are now just youtube videos with one sentence intros is what's killing your cred.

Oops, I kinda like this song. His performance on SNL was enjoyable, too. "How Could You Live in the Northeast?" is much better, though.

I suppose it's not very indie to talk about Paul's later and lesser output, but indie snobs better respect Graceland.

"Indie snobs better respect Graceland"? Uh, yeah, Chevy Chase and cultural appropriation from the man who did fundraisers for Ed Koch and refused to participate in "Sun City"? Gotta love it!

(and yes, I'm not being fair to the man, but come on... there was a lot more going on in the '80s - just ask VH1!)

Edie is okay, for a one-hit wonder. Rhymin' Simon is aiight. Dawg. My Chemical Romance plain sucks.

I think Surprise is Paul Simon's strongest work since Graceland, and "Outrageous" is one of many decent tracks. Bringing Brian Eno in to help add some nice ambience to the tracks helped. Rag all you want to about Rhythm of the Saints but Paul Simon has scored with this one.
