New Rufus Wainwright - "Going To A Town"

Rufus fans finally have something to hear from the prolific piano man's forthcoming, fifth full-length Release The Stars. The Wants saw Wainrofalo (that's Wainwright + Janeane Garofalo, nickname coined during a classic Late World With Zach interview we wish we had GooTube of) split between singer-songwriter and stringed-out composer; we have yet to see which Wainwright turns up for duty on Release.

He had promised a record "less personal in terms of my own struggles," but he's still logging plenty of first-person complaints on "Going To A Town," singing that he's "going to a town that has already been burned down / I'm so tired of you, America," while sister Martha adds her backing lines through a swell of, yep, strings. Standard Rufus fare, which still is better than most. Grab it at Hard To Find A Friend. (Thanks for the heads up, Caleb!)

Release The Stars is out 5/15 on Geffen.
