New Scarlett Johansson (Feat. David Bowie) - "Falling Down"

thumbnail icon: New Scarlett Johansson (Feat. David Bowie) - "Falling Down"

Another week, another taste of Scarlett doing Waits. Nothing's changing about our feelings on this record: it is barely average, with decent-to-good Sitek production, forgettable vocals, and fabulous guest spots. We listened to it at Joe's Pub over the winter and stand by our premature evaluation, right down "Falling Down" being the least bad song on there (congrats everybody!). David Bowie makes his way into the swirling, swelling mix to remind you what a charismatic singing voice sounds like, and Sitek plies enough snowy white space into the latter half to please (read: distract you from Scarlett's shortcomings). Like we said, it's not bad, and it's clear everyone put a lot of work into it, but it all would sound a lot better with not Scarlett Johansson. But you should totally listen at Spinner because admit it, that is an awesome set of tags.

It sounds alright once David Bowie joins in, because he can actually sing. Still - amazing tits.

awful sounding record judging from the tracks I've heard so far. Even David Bowie won't be able to save this mess. Just a pity she had a soil Mr. Waits wonderful songs with it. Excellent tits, though.

I was so certain that she would surprise all the cynics and make a great album. I was so wrong. Unless it's a brilliant joke... Maybe these are fake leaks? Because if you wanted to make the worst possible version of a TW song, as a goof, you couldn't top the choices made here, for sheer hilarity.

sterogum, you are 'tards of the highest order. this album is crap.
but at least we'll never have to hear from her again since the album is the equivalent of a fart wafting in and out of the room.
worthless.

For some reason, I first read this as her covering "As The World Falls Down" from the Labyrinth soundtrack. Had she covered that with Bowie, I would buy this album. Obviously it was wishful thinking, because this is boooo-ring.

I want to hear the version of this song where it's only Bowie singing. He needs to stop guest starring on albums and put out one of his own.

I'm going to second the person who said it an "As the World Falls Down" cover would have kicked some ass...if it was by someone else. I know it sounds crazy but that just might be Bowie's best song of the eighties.

She has an interesting voice but clearly has no idea how to use it.

The Other Matthew

Meh. I really liked her "Summertime," but this sounds a little bland. I had high hopes for this album, and not just because it's Scarlett Johansson. Oh well, I'll still try to listen to a few more tracks.

Also, she has tits? I did not know that. Just keeps getting better and better...

The tits are great, but I do like "Heroes" and anything from "Ziggy Stardust." He doesn't show them off anymore....that is Bowie's mams.
