New Sigur Rós - "Glósóli"

Like most Sigur songs, the Takk... tune is sweet, if a bit soporific. Listen a few times, though, and it gets under your skin. The video is górgeous. Watch: Win Media | Real

And if you like what you hear, stream the entire CD. Now if I could only pronounce their name! (Just kidding -- I know how 'cause I speak Björkish.)

It sounds like Godspeed That Black Emperor. That is, god on speed. However the emperor is a white Icelandic elf.

You mean "Godspeed You! Black Emperor"? That reminds me, for some unfathomable reason a music store in my area actually had a copy of "yanqui u.x.o." (GY!BE shares Sigur's penchant for unpronouncable titles, eh?), must remember to make the trek out to get it . . .

I saw Sigur Ros play last weekend in Philadelphia. It was unbelievable; probably one of the best shows I will ever go to.

The SR show was not bad last night. Anyone else attend?

And of course I mean GYBE; was trying to be post-ironic cool.

The SR show @ Beacon last night was probably the best show I've ever seen. I could've easily sat there for 2 more hours and not have been bored once. Such beautiful music. Even the opener was amazing.

"Glosoli" is seriously one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in a long time.

The show at Beacon was great. The new stuff doesn't sound as good live as on record, but the older material was spectacular.

I saw both Sigur shows and was blown away by both....listening to the new cd brings back the feeling you get only at a SR show. I thought the new stuff was amazing at the show, but the highlights were the first and last songs as well as Vidrar....the 20 second pause had everyone's hearts in their throats....
