New Tori Amos - American Doll Posse

Seems like if you came up in the '90s, you'll always have love for Tori, so you Gen X'ers will be glad to hear bits and pieces from American Doll Posse, Tori's follow-up to 2005's The Beekeeper. Two have surfaced, far as we know: the classic sound of "Bouncing Off Clouds" isn't far from the lilting, pretty piano arpeggiating of Amos past, while "Big Wheel" is a a slice of sleazy country rock, all slide guitar and down-home stomp with Tori using whiskey to "wash you away" and proudly proclaiming, "I am a M.I.L.F. / Don't you forget." Like you could.

Grab clips of both at the American Doll Posse Forums, and hear a full "Big Wheel" stream at PerezHilton.

American Doll Posse is scheduled for 5/1 release on Epic.

The Donnas finished their upcoming (self-financed and to-be-self-released-as-download-only) album last month, supposedly. I wonder how long it will take for it to leak. On the other hand, maybe it has leaked already but no one gives a shit.

I don't get why these songs have silly titles like "bouncing off clouds" if they're supposed to be all angry and confrontational. Still, I can't wait to hear the new album, I hope it's more of a classic tori sound than the electronic experiments of her mid-carreer. choirgirl was a good album but i'd rather it was a bit more "pele" while also being unique and fresh. poor tori, it's gonna be impossible for her to please everyone, isn't it? x

First article I've seen yet that has the demographics for Gen-xers correct. THANK YOU! YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT - Gen-xers grew up in the 90's not the 80's. We who grew up in the 80's are the Latchkey generation, not Gen-x or Gen-y. And we love Tori too. But not too sure about the new album as many are saying it sounds most like Strange Little Girls...something that did not need to be repeated. Hmm...

Strange little girls was a cover CD. It was also an easy way to get out of a bad contract by not giving her old record label any of her new work and still giving them 6 CD's. That is also why we have not had a substantial CD in a while.

i'm sorry i wish she would make a sequel album to choir girl hotel, and then do some sick plugged tour. i like her best plugged.

I keep thinking tori will return to her piano roots with each album...i'm beginning to think it's never going to happen. however, she is still the best. she never dissapoints me. besides, anyone who truly loves her and knows her work also knows she won't conform to what we want. that's why we love her.

I've been in the same limbo as many others. A fan of Tori since the start yet more than a little sidestepped by the last couple. The grand spark that gave her that mixture of vulnerability & dangerousness had somewhat gone and she was getting pretty safe and, dare I say, boring.

This album is, however, the one where I get right back on the train. Rock, country, sweetness, sleaze, whispering, piano leads and electro-fuzz, proclaiming herself a "M.I.L.F" and a "Girl Disappearing", all while sounding her most & least like Kate Bush yet. There's maybe only a couple of tracks out of the 23 that I'm undecided on...and they're growing.

You know what ? I think it's safe to say that the Amos has her metaphorical balls back and way better for it.

Colour me somewhat relieved !
