New UHF - "So High"

The Portland, Oregon band UHF released their third LP, All Our Golden Tomorrows, last month. Slated for wider release in November, you really should check these guys out if you haven't already. Fronted by twin brothers Jeremy and Jordan Leff, UHF makes psychedelic-ish pop that's reminiscent of The Long Winters and Polyphonic Spree. Good stuff. These are my favorite songs on AYGT:

UHF - "Disconnect" (MP3)
UHF - "So High" (MP3)

Pretty ballsy to name your band after a Weird Al movie.

I also wonder how Mr. Yankovic is involved with this project. How about Michael Richards? He looks like a bassist.

Is that King Missle "Detachable Penis" sample at the beginning of the first song?

Jed is 100% correct UHF is good stuff! 2002's If It Was Easy is a lost classic since it hardly got any recognition. I am surprised that more of the Indie crowd who drools over CYHSY, & Death Cab have not embraced this group. Before you go saying snide remarks, get a copy of It Was Easy & you will see it blows away the majority of new indie stuff that has been released in the last few years... Maybe I should post some If It Was Easy tracks on my blog tomorrow so you can see for yourself...

Couldn't resist... Hey Safeashouses, you say you are a Portland expert but diss UHF? I have to tell you that don't make much sense. If you had paid attention, this band has gotten huge accolades in the Portland indie scene... Maybe you were talking about Portland Maine eh?

2002's If It Was Easy.... Jack Rabid of The Big Takeover gave it a huge thumbs up...

"A highly accomplished record from one of the best emerging new U.S. bands you`ve never heard of, this sort of full-on artistic success isn`t `easy` at all." -- Jack Rabid, The Big Takeover. Jack does not suffer pop fools lightly, so it`s a statement of this band`s 3rd and best releases` high quality. Fans of "Pieces" or "Lottery" will come along cheerfully with this new one, but it`s a whole new vista the band should see with this one as they have found their stride, a full band connection and an ability to reach high and touch the sky on almost every track. "Solid vocal performances and sweet, simmering guitars layered with steady bass and slippery drum beats, all brought together with sunlit organs...what an amazing combination. Not to mention they do it so sincerely and valid, you can`t help but fall in love."- inmusicwetrust.com Click on the soundbites and catch the breeze. Extremely Highly Recommended.

BTW, Good looking out Jed and letting us fans know about the new UHF!

Just listening to the album myself right now and came across this review. It is a pretty good album that does get better with each listen. I would like to see a reputable indie take a chance on these guys. It's catchy music that with the right backing could go places. A little quirky but good nonetheless.
