New Wilco Tracks Surface

As Jeff mentioned in Nashville earlier this year, Wilco's forthcoming record is titled Sky Blue Sky, and this morning three tracks from the record ("Walken," "You Are My Face," and "Either Way") are making their way through the series of tubes. "Walken" is a down home, piano and slide-guit rocker, while the latter two are soft and smooth, though the CSN sweetness of "You Are My Face" takes time out to shift into a punchy, guitar-hero shuffle. Grab 'em at Shameless Complacency.

Sky Blue Sky is out 5/15 on Nonesuch.

The mp3s are a little flat and might not be mastered yet, still some cool stuff on there. I like the mellow vibe. Hard not to smile when you listen to these tunes.

Other than the last minute or so of Walken, they sound pretty f'n safe, i.e., boring.

Love these tracks, but what's with the paucity of new Ryan Adams news? He announced a new album the other day...? Somebody get on that.

I am really impressed with the sound of these new songs. They sound really cohesive; it's much more of a "band" record then A Ghost Is Born. It's great to hear Nels on the record.

i have to save i am completely turned off by their new direction. and think they sound more like a tweedy solo project than a band. left to his own devices in his older age, i think tweedy is believing all of the adoration and spiraling towards mediocrity. he will do anything to remove any resemblance of a melody.

If you can't hear a melody in Walken, i'm not sure you have ears

"he will do anything to remove any resemblance of a melody"? What on earth are you listening to, the drums? This is some seriously melodic stuff!

Wow, I can't believe Stereogum noticed my quaint little blog. I'm in a bit of a state of shock. Thanks!

Unless that was... GASP... Jeff Tweedy himself!

In which case, he'll probably tell you that you can hear Impossible Germany when you buy the fucking record.

Looks like the thought police already did their work. The link isn't working anymore. Anybody want to share?

That was my blog that was shut down, and I have no clue why. I emailed Wordpress, but they still haven't gotten back to me. I've received Web Sherrif emails before, and complied with them, so I have no clue my blog would be shut down so suddenly. I'll definitely be creating a new blog soon if I can't get the old one back up. In the meantime, email me, and I can send you the songs.

that's bogus! all the more reason to shell out $10 a month to host your own blog, I guess. Or does Wordpress have authority over that as well?

that's bizarre and not cool if it was without notice. maybe you just exceeded bandwith and it's automatically been stopped for a little bit? that's happened to me before....

Thanks for the kind words. You can email me at ke.bove@gmail.com if you want the tracks, though they're quite easy to find otherwise.

I think these songs sound nice-- sorta like todd rundgren. I agree, the mix is a little weird for a wilco track though.
