New Arctic Monkeys - "Catapult"
According to the helpful comment left by Mr. Quick, a "cornerstone" is "someone who can only have good sex when they are stoned." And according to most who've spent time with Humbug, "Cornerstone" is the Alex Turner's best lyrical and vocal performance yet. It's already received a memorable video, and today sees the release of its very own EP, laced with three Humbug b-sides: the shadowy and distressed garage-spunk of "Fright Lined Dining Room" and the spikier "Sketchead" (sounding more like a Favourite Worst Nightmare castoff), and most prominent of the set, "Catapult," a strong track co-written with co-producer Josh Homme. I think Fright Lined Dining Room is the standout here due to the fact that it's the most fun Amonks song that has come out of the Humbug era thus far and fun is what the Amonks are all about.

i wouldn't say its his best lyrical performance yet. Just because you don't understand his other songs doesn't take away from their genius. On Humbug alone there are some real gems. Crying Lightning is about a girl he's trying to pick up who is being a bitch. Dance Little Liar describes perfectly a girl dancing around her lies."And the clean coming will hurt
/And you can never get it spotless/When theres dirt beneth the dirt" Shall I go on? Mardy Bum perfectly captures a fight between lovers. The view from the afternoon captures drunk texting to the T "And you can pour your heart out/Around three o' clock/When the two-for-ones undone the writer's block " i could keep going but redundancy is a motherfucker

Most of this band's b-sides are very good. That's obviously a good thing. Even when these are supposed to be "not as good as album material", it's always disheartening to listen to a crappy b-side from a band you like.

I'm really glad for this, Fright Lined Dining Room is very much like the Arctic Monkeys I've grown to love. I'm not huge about Humbug, I think Favourite Worst Nightmare is easily their best in comparison, but I'm glad this is sounding more AM than the album itself, though I do like Cornerstone a lot. Who knew The Last Shadow Puppets and Miles Kane himself would be so influential?
