New Dandy Warhols - "The World The People Together (Come On)"

thumbnail icon: New Dandy Warhols - "The World The People Together (Come On)"

This summer, longstanding Portland-born quartet the Dandy Warhols are self-releasing their sixth album Earth To The Dandy Warhols, the first since 2005's Odditorium or Warlords of Mars, on their own Beat The World Records. (The last one was on Capitol, by the way.) Today, entering the land of D.I.Y., the album's playing on 10,000+ AMI Jukeboxes across the US of A and the band's re-launched their site with an appropriate space-travel theme. The album's lead track "The World The People Together (Come On)" is a bouncy, percussive, smeary group lift-off.

If you want to trek deeper into the outer solar system, they had sci-fi writer Richard K. Morgan pen their new bio, which you can see at MySpace. On top of this new mission, they'll be announcing tour dates soon, too.

As mentioned, Earth To The Dandy Warhols is out this summer via Beat The World. Also and coincidentally, the Brian Jonestown Massacre's My Bloody Underground came out two weeks ago. Dig! on that.

That last album shoulda been called 'Odditorium; or Capitol, We Want Out of Our Contract.' Garbage. Monkeyhouse was good, though.

This track isn't screaming Awesome to me, but will give the new album a shot.

does his voice on this one remind anyone else of Black Kids?

Sounds like a bad Jane's Addiction cover band.

I really want a good Dandies record, so I hate to say it, but it sound like a less interesting version of "A Fast Driving Rave-Up With the Dandy Warhols". Maybe I'm just not listening to it loudly enough, or on the proper recommended dosage.

I really want to like it, but not sure this song will convince me to buy the record.

A less interesting version of "A Fast Driving Rave-Up With the Dandy Warhols" is still better than most of the crap that floats around these days.

so very true, Brad. as far as the Odditorium album, i found it to be quite an amazing ride. you just have to give them your patience and see it thru to see what they were doing on that one. no one else out there is really making music like that.

Haven't really devoted much time to the Dandy Warhols, but this sounds pretty good to me, I don't know about sitting around trying to listen to it as an experience, but having it on just to liven up a room it's pretty perfect.

where is that photo from? if the its the Dandy Warhols, they are blatantly ripping off the video for 'Amerika' by Ramstein. a great vid by the way...or did you just somehow equate Ramstein with them, somehow?

bill p, are you kidding me? i was 100% with this band up until the monkey travesty, and only recently decided to finally check out odditorium...and actually felt it was a slight turn back in the proper direction for them.
