New Graham Coxon - "Sorrow's Army"

thubmnail icon: New Graham Coxon - "Sorrow's Army"

Blur got together on the same stage at the 2009 NME Awards and are promoting British gas. At the same time, Blur guitarist (and much more) Graham Coxon is about to release his seventh solo effort The Spinning Top. We're told it's a concept album that follows a man from birth to death. The first single, "Sorrow's Army," premiered on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show a couple days ago. Not sure where this takes place in the subject's life, but judging from the sadness and the goodbyes, I'm guessing it's more toward the end.

The Spinning Top is out 5/11 via Transgressive. The "Sorrow's Army" single is out 4/18. Before any of that, Graham will be at SXSW. He has the specifics at his MySpace.

i may be in quite the minority but id rather blur stay apart so graham can keep his full attention on his superior solo albums.

I love Graham's solo work. Glad to see him get some much deserved attention. Brilliant song too. It's apparently about a solider in the story who's about to die.

I loved Happiness in Magazines too, but the truth is that Alex James is one of the best bass players in England and it's a crime that he and Graham aren't playing together anymore.

Being the guitarist from Blur earned about him about three albums' worth of free press. With only one good song ("Freaking Out") out of six albums, you don't have to cover & review the seventh.

Well, Alex and Graham ARE playing together again, as Blur (finally) have reunited. And it feels so good.
