New Hot Chip - "Take It In"

thumbnail icon: New Hot Chip - "Take It In"

After a year that saw them cover Joy Division, get covered by Lissy Trullie, and pursue various side projects, UK dance crew Hot Chip are set to return with a new LP, the Made In The Dark followup titled One Life Stand. The set is due in February via Astralwerks and features, according to Alexis Taylor's recent interview with NME, the "anthemic" song "I Feel Better," a "big, massive Euro club sounding track." They're still deciding whether that song or this updated version of the previously released "Take It In" will serve as the first single, but either way this new gothy then uplifting "Take It In" is the first One Life Stand serving available for listens. Take it in:

One Life Stand is out 2/9 via Astralwerks. You can get a free MP3 of "Take It In" by pre-ordering the album at the Hot Chip homepage.

Love the industrial keyboard sound effects at the beginning. Reminds me of Depeche Mode. The chorus is so crisp and clean. This is one of the 'Chips more polished and accessible tunes to date. While it's not my favorite, it will most likely expand their audience. And that's ok by me.

Love this song. Love this Band. Can't wait for the new album and tour, they're always a great time live. :)

I love, love this band. This song is not great, but it is good. Usually the first single that they release isn't as amazing the rest of the album. Take the example of Made In The Dark - Shake A Fist (their first single) was the most accesible, but by far not the best song on the album. I mean We're Looking for a Lot of Love/Ready for the Floor are two of my fave songs from 2008, or ever.
