New Vivian Girls - "Death" "Moped Girl"'s appropriately slower, noisier B-Side "Death" is streaming at the Girls' MySpace sans pie fights, broken bones, and spilt milk. The single's out on For Us, the label of Rough Trade Shops.

Why the constant coverage of this terrible band? Do they pay Stereogum?

my guess is that they pay them in rare Ronnettes records.

Stereogum news flash- The Vivian Girls release some talentless, visionless, wannabe noise rock piece of shit tune.
Coming up next after our commercial break- someone ties their shoes.

Sterogum reader statistics say this band band suckx major ass, so it seems to be proven that this band is not for stereogum readers, so why post any of these songs by these lovely girls

i don't understand either why blogs cover this shit

The Vivian Girls should meltdown in Spain and Wavves should conduct a disastrous interview in a bathtub. The lo-fi circle would be complete.

This band sounds like someone took the first and second place finishers at a high school talent show--the three girls who could sort of sing and the band of kids who could sort of play instruments--and forced them to write songs together.

My god, stereogum readers are the cattiest jerks when they lash onto a certain band.

Hi, I still love Vivian Girls. I''m assuming all of you hate every punk band from the 70s onwards, as well? Since when has "extreme musical talent" = "great music"?
Go listen to some Santana/Michelle Branch duets and breath a little.

i am just fucking bored about the argument that some great bands don't know how to play their instrument... everyone knows and agree with that
the thing with vivian girl is that not only they do not know how to play their instruments but the music is lame and horrible; and that second things is the more important
we would not care about their inability to play if the music was listenable, get it??

Thanks for the great comment.

I have always enjoyed this band. I think they are just an easy target for Stereogum readers to hate on b/c of their retarded interview. They play simple, rocking, noisy pop tunes. I dig their music. Just b/c you wouldn't want to hang out with them, doesn't mean their music sucks.

i never had to see an interview to think their music sucks. their music just sucks.

i don't ever want to hang out with you but I'd give your music a chance.

"extreme musical talent" = "great music" ? No, not all the time.
"extreme lack of musical talent = horrible annoying shit" ? Yup, that sounds right...I'll go with that.

A ton of punk bands create annoying, unoriginal, and repititive songs. Most people that listen to that kind of music say things like, "It doesn't matter they can't play instruments well" or "They only needed to know three notes to rock" or "it's all about the energy". Ok, fair enough...if that's the case, then those poser bands should just put down musical instruments and bang a fuckin hammer against a pan as hard as they can for as long as they can. Then it truly doesn't matter if they play guitar, they'll probably only get 3 about three pitches out of it, and it takes some real energy to do so. Music is not the same thing as audio.

the thing about the old punk bands who lacked technical chops was that they played with heart and gumption. these broads don't. aside from the lack of musicianship they write really shitty songs and play like they don't give a fuck. and i'm not even gonna get into how totally dislikable they seem (see: bathtub interview), apart from their dislikable music.

granted, lots of prior punk bands played like they didn't give a fuck, too, but they did it in a way that was much more appealing.

Let me just say that I find the hate for this band very refreshing. Seriously. They're just... eh... not very good at anything, or even listenable in a funny bad way, and it's nice to see them called on it.

Yet all of you sit at home in front of your computers, not seeing the need for pants at all, while these girls travel the country to packed houses, playing simple yet catchy tunes.

Remind us when your CD pops.

Oh come on, idiot...are you saying that anybody that garners a crowd for doing something automatically means their talented or good at what they do? have you ever been to Times Square? what about youtube? Do you like Britney Spears?
And if they indeed do play to packed houses, it's probably because there's enough zombie followers out there that hop on this "cool because they suck" fab going on. all it took was some press in the indie blogosphere, a few cute girls, and an attitude that they don't care what they sound like. It's like Sleater-Kinney minus the original concept.
And apparently, you're also saying that anyone commenting negativley here does nothing but sit in front of a computer doing so...I'm actually a successful musician/producer with a pair of functioning ears and a dislike of hype-machine bands that blow. I'm just intrigued enough by the phenomenon that i can't help but comment. so...WHAT THE FUK ARE YOU DOING HERE? WHAT DO YOUR SONGS SOUND LIKE? I'D BET THEY SOUND LIKE SHIT, based on your musical interests. You must work for these clowns or something.

I really like this song I really like their sound I honestly think that where do you run is one of the finest songs of the last five years honest. so am I right and your all wrong. No i think its just that people who like bands tend not to comment .. hate is a much stronger force

instead of simply bashing bands which is totally cool of course people shouldbe bashing bands but instead of simply doing that with anger doi it with cool and say man this shit isnt relevent this is whats really going on in this time .. and share ppl would aprciate this the internet is is getting to stale c'mon its the 90s now

What I can't understand is why this band doesn't have about 10 albums of material by now. Clearly their writing process consists of "hey, listen to this riff." *strum strum strum* "Great! lets make it a 90 second long song."

And yet if people hate it they don't just ignore it they trip over each other to give it more attention. Good going, guys. I'm pretty sure you'll help propel their next album based solely on the hype your hatred gets it.

Vivian Girls are prolly the best band of the last 12 years. I agree with their interview too, working class joes and unhip people are pathetic. If you don't listen to good music and hang with the right crowds than your as good as mud.
