Nickelback Cover Genesis

... just kidding. Probably. Genesis, ZZ Top, Heart, and Ozzy Osbourne are the artists that will be celebrated at this year's VH1 Rock Honors, to be held at Vegas's Mandalay Bay. Gretchen Wilson, Keane, and Nickelback are the bands named so far for cover-salute duty. We're guessing Keane will pay tribute to our favorite prog-poppers (we suggest "In Too Deep"), Gretchen will go Heart (but why not Blitzen Trapper?), Nickelback will butcher Ozzy, and an artist yet to be named will don beards, shades, and custom-made jagged-edged guitars in hopeless pursuit of a cheap ZZ Top joke. The show, which airs May 24th, is hosted by Bam Margera -- which is just as absurd as this post's title.

Nickelback will be covering ZZ Top. Billy Gibbons played on two tracks on their All The Right Reasons album [which I know only because I was writing trivia related to the event -- honest!!]

yes...but who's covering "My Humps"? is it too much to ask for a Black Eyed Peas spoof at every event?

I like ZZ Top for one reason, because the guy without the beard is named Frank Beard. That...is awesome. Can't wait to hear Nickelback slaughter a few songs that I already don't give a shit about. I'm sure it will infuriate me anyway.

I have never decided on ZZ Top's level of self-seriousness.

ZZ Top have 'nads; Nickelback have 'nads when they feel like it. Should they pull 'em out, it could be a good show.

They should have gotten Queens of the Stone Age for the ZZ Top cover. They already do a kickass version of "Precious and Grace."

the only way to really appreciate zz top is on their old, old albums, the vinyl ones, too, because the others were re-relased all fucked up by remastering. but they were amazing.

They should have gotten Disturbed to play their version of "Land of Confusion." I confess, it's a guilty pleasure.
