Nine Inch Nails - Year Zero

The full, unadulterated version of Trent Reznor's latest opus of angst is on the web, and if you're having trouble scaring up the files floating around the net, head to YearZero.NIN.com for a complete album stream. (You'll have to fork over your email, but at least Reznor spam is entertaining!) We're just taking our first listen now, so we have little to say, other than the RIAA are fucking morons. Enjoy!

UPDATE: Found a better link that goes straight to the album stream, no email addy involved. ('Cause god knows the porn a "nine inch" email generator will get you.) Click.

any album that begins with a song called hyper color should be sued by Generra. if only this album changed color when I touched it. oh wait, it's not hypercolor?

silly stereogum, you don't have to fork over anything...use dodgeit.com or mailinator.com for disposable email addys.

...actually the cd includes some sort of thermochrome packaging and does change appearance base on heat sensitivity

Even if you use your real email address, they send you an email asking to confirm that you want to be signed up to the mailing list. If you don't confirm, they don't add you. Simple as that.

So far I'm really enjoying the album. I'm especially enjoying Vessel, Me I'm Not, and Capital G.

It really is all about "The Great Destroyer" and "The Good Soldier." I must admit as a long time fan of Trent's I was extremely nervous that I would hate "Year Zero." I was being silly. This album is fantastic.

Im in love with My Violent Heart & Vessel.
Never fails to disappoint. http://blog.myspace.com/littlebrother (blog 2.23.07) has all the marketing behind the album. its ridiculously innovative.

Best marketing ever. And the albums pretty damn good. I saw them live last summer and they put on a hell of a show.

I might be the only one here who doesn't enjoy the album as a whole? Some tracks are great, but...

i agree about their live performance. NIN is one of the few bands that sound better live.

After streaming it all morning, it sounds ace to me so far. "Capital G" and "The Great Destroyer" are the immediate standouts, but it always takes me several listens to get into any album.

I've been covering Year Zero like a madman. Finally being able to stream the album since I found out about it yesterday has been awesome. What a ridiculously good release.

my two cents, which don't really matter but i'm going to put them in anyway: this album is really REALLY good. much better than with teeth. can't wait until nails tour again. i saw them twice last year and was blown away.

It's outstanding. His best stuff since 1999. Just magnificent. Welcome back, Trent!!

I'm going to have to agree with everyone else and say this is outstanding.
I admit, I enjoyed With Teeth, but it was more of a hit or miss album. This one, I think, works very well as a whole and some of the songs are great. The first one to really stand out to me is "The Great Destoyer"...that little bit in the second half of the song is pure gold.

And Steve, you tricked me :[

Best thing he's done since The Downward Spiral. I can't stop listening, lots of layers and will sound different on different stereos. 'Vessel' is massive!

Saw them on their last gig in Finland on the 10th.
What can I say... Brilliant stuff...what a live band..

Year Zero. Sounds bigger than life again but It won't sound fabulous until I get t the CD in my car and listen to it alone while speeding. There's something about music in cars...

I was so confused when I pulled my CD out of my CD player and it was a different color than when I had first put it in there. At first, I was like, "Oh shit, it was actually two CDs and now one of them is stuck in my computer!" LOL.

Long time NIN fan, was afraid to be disappointed. How many albums do bands put out before they start to suck? Or in this era, how many songs? Year Zero is the best full album I've heard in a long long while. Thanks and congrats to Trent!!!

Band To Watch: Blank Dogs

Blank Dogs are actually singular: It's the insanely prolific one-man Brooklyn-based band of Mr. Blank Dog. We don't know too much about the biography of the guy behind the bedroom new-wave pop/punk and he's usually covering his face with masks...
