NYC Concert Update: Free Beasties? Franz Moved?

From the inbox:

  • "The Beastie Boys are playing a free concert next Wednesday, June 23, at 6pm at the Prospect Park Bandshell. I think they're hitting all of 'the 5 boroughs,' but this is the only one I know about..." (thanks Kyle.)

  • Friday's Franz Ferdinand show at Volume is being moved to Warsaw (says Rob The Street.)

could not agree more Mario C (heh), old school (86) B-Boy fan here, and imo, it's easily their worst record. it's not that it's terrible, it's just no good. the beats are totally stale, the rhymes & lyrics are often cringeworthy.

people wanna call "going back to their roots", it's a total retread. if this came out back in 89-90 it wouldn't be so bad, but so much has changed since then, sadly this shows no progress/innovation, something they were known for. the fact that they didn't play a single live instrument on this record is dissapointing too, even Mike's beats are pretty sad. how they managed to not make a song sampling Sonic Reducer rock, is beyond me.
