Of Ronsons And Roc-A-Fellas

Congrats to the winner of today's iTune giveaway. James, Cara, Eliza and I saw this video on Subterranean last night and agreed it is the worst song/video we have ever seen.

Here's the deal with Samantha Ronson: She's a DJ/socialite who was "discovered" by Damon Dash at some club last year and was promptly signed as Roc-A-Fella's first rock artist (album drops in a few months).

Her step-father is Mick Jones of Foreigner, and her older brother is DJ/socialite Mark Ronson. Don't underestimate the importance of connections, people!

Watch her terrible video for "Tear My Hair Out" (Windows Media | Real). It includes cameos from, uh ... Taryn Manning and Wilmer Valderrama? All that's missing is a fucking Hilton.

Is MTV2 punking us?

Do you like this video? If so, before you berate me make sure you can adequately defend Ronson's choice to RIDE A SESAME SEED BAGEL. That was the scene that stuck with me most. There's probably something even more ridiculous in there, but I have neither the time nor inclination to embark on a Zapruder-like deconstruction.

My point is: Samantha Ronson has a video on MTV2 and you don't.

I cannot wait for MTV3.

You can find some more old photos of Samantha Ronson if you poke around NewYorkSocialDiary.

Oh, God! Make it stop! Make it stop! Are we sure they haven't had this video sitting around since the early 80's and they just put it on now?

Stereogum, you went easy on the silly trollop. As I said, the video looks like it was made using one of those godawful "Be a Newscaster" blue-screen exhibits at the Museum of Television and Radio...

Adequate defense for riding the sesame seed bagel: They were all out of bialys?

I just love the current trend of talentless rich kids getting richer. It used to be that your talent turned you into a celebrity, and we equated them as such. Now celebrity is all anyone needs to make it in the entertainment business.

At least the whole world is laughing at them...that's almost a square deal.

I'm off to shoot myself with a tazer gun and videotape it.

Samantha Ronson is a no-talent hack, and don't get me started on her brother. That being said, her semi-remix of Jay-Z's "99 Problems", while certainly not dope is actually a far cry from wack. Yo. So I can't totally hate. Oh, yes I can, Fuck Samantha Ronson! But still, Paris Hilton: Best Celeb DJ? HA.

I just read an article about her in the March issue of Nylon magazine, and I'm like, oh no. The first word that came to my head was poseur, and I have no idea why. I'm so turned off that I can't even watch that video. Forgive me.

That woman is the most physically ill-at-ease, awkward-looking performer I've ever seen. The scenes of her sitting down are almost painful to watch, her posture is so bad. Oh, and the song pretty much blew. Let's hear it for knowing the right people!

see, this shit makes me happy. it reaffirms that you can be some hott-shit trust-fund darling with half of new york city in your rolodex, and you can be given a huge record deal and a dumptruck full of money for a video and a maybach full of cute socialites in ugg boots to dance around...

and without a little talent and taste, you can still blow enormous hairy goat balls.

She thinks she is Adam Ant but uses Devo video technology. Her lip-synching and dance movements make it look like the video was filmed the very first time she ever heard the song.
