OMG! Will Chris Daughtry Join Fuel?
I've already admitted I don't watch American Idol, so I missed contestant Chris Daughtry's supposedly SHOCKING boot from the competition. But I do find today's headlines hilarious. Rock band Fuel, in need of a lead singer since Brett Scallions quit in February, wants Chris to fill the role. Desperately.
Bassist Jeff Abercrombie and guitarist Carl Bell went on Extra yesterday with the offer (one they made earlier in the season): "Chris, if you are watching ... we've talked about this before and if you want to entertain it again we'll take it and go." Chris' response: "I'm flattered. You know, I don't want to say yes, and I don't want to say no right now."
Fuel can't even land a reject from American Idol. That means YOUR chances are pretty good. Audition here.
An established group replacing its lead singer via reality TV = always lame. We're looking at you INXS.

Mandy... I've been saying the same thing from the beginning. I find it endlessly amusing that people are actually ignorant enough to call him "original", when in reality he's probably the least original amoung them. Yes, he made the songs his own... but he did so by butchering them. I'm relieved that he didn't win.
For the record, I only watch to see Katharine McPhee do he stripper dance every week... honest!

"Idol" basically has control of Chris' life right now, they'd have to reach an agreement with Fuel before they'd let Chris set foot in the studio with the band...

Scallions lost his voice and now he's playing guitar in another band. In addition, FYI, Fuel's former drummer either has or is currently suing the remaining members because they booted him uncerimoniously from the band.

i'm not an idol fan but the guy can definetly sing and he also showed up at fuel's audition and blew them away there. its not like fuel held a show for it, brett left the band and chris nailed hemorrhage

Chris Daughtry got what he needed from American Idol - exposure. Chris is awesome. He's so much better than American Idol. I'm glad he didn't win, because he can move on with his career now. I can't wait to see him live. He's great.

I just got cable two months ago after 4 years without? How can you not love American Idol? It's like Star Search, without Sinbad (the comedians were never funny) and bigger production values. The only minus is the lack of "group dance" category. Chris has a beautiful voice, but maybe the all time worst taste in music. Though a much bigger vocal range than mandy suggests.
