One Angry Dwarf And 200 Solemn Avatars

Sony BMG was paying attention to Rob Walker's "Consumed" a few weeks back.

Sometimes this life seems so cluttered with marketing and sales pitches that it’s enough to make you want to flee to another world. And you can. A second life awaits in one of the many increasingly popular online worlds, including one called Second Life. Inhabited by the alter egos of a few hundred thousand users, Second Life is not the most popular of these online habitats, but lately it has been attracting — yes — marketers. Toyota, Starwood Hotels and a variety of music and book companies have begun branding efforts in Second Life.
Ben Folds will be promoting the release of supersunnyspeedgraphic (out 10/24), his new collection of old material, by venturing into the massively multiplayer 3D Internet world on Thursday night.
Join Ben for a live chat and album preview on SONY BMG's new music-based virtual city space in Second Life --> Media Island! You'll be able to check out Ben's artist lounge featuring his streaming music and videos, images, information and more! You'll even be able to buy virtual Ben Folds merch and music!!
We love Ben Folds, but suppersunny is his least essential release since Naked Baby Photos, so don't waste your Linden dollars.

Oh yeah, and there's a virtual pre-party at aloft, A Vision Of W Hotels. Details here. Log on before Ben's chat to hear some of the album and meet other Folds fans who also can't get a girlfriend.

'Naked Baby Photos' is an essential BF5 release! It's full of great live tracks! And there's some great rare stuff on suppersunny...well worth my dollars (or Great British Pounds to be precise!)

FYI: Talib Kweli is also doing a promotion with the Second Life game (http://www.allhiphop.com/hiphopnews/?ID=6343).

BTW: GREAT (or at least funny) cover of Dre/Snoop by Ben Folds.
