Our Appetite For Democracy Continues to Wane

Well we're back to playing "Tuesdays With Rose-y," 'cause Axl's scrapped yet another set-in-Play-Doh date for the release of Chinese Democracy. GN'R (that is, Axl and some other dudes) spokesman Del James had this to say:

The good news is that all of the recording for the album has been completed. Drummer Frank Ferrer and guitarist Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal integrated themselves into the recordings seamlessly and will have their presence felt.

There is no official release date, as the band is currently mixing, but after some delays and scheduling difficulties, things appear to be moving along.

By now you know better than to get excited about a phrase like "the band is currently mixing," but let's give you some perspective. The first "official" track to leak from Democracy was a souped up version of the track "Better" that leaked last year -- but that "new" incarnation has been swiftly disowned by Axl's guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal as an undercooked mix itself.

He posted on the band's fan forum (via Blabbermouth):

It's like working on a painting, and someone displaying it when it's only half done. It hurts the artist because something's getting out there that people assume is the final version, the best version, etc. The other people that it hurts are the FANS — I mean, the *real* fans, the ones that care the most.

The latest 'leak' is obviously some experimental mix of 'Better' — not any version I ever heard, but I don't claim to have heard everything that's out there... Whoever put it out there did a real mindfucking of the fans, especially to do it now, when the album's release is growing closer.

I have faith in everyone involved in the mixing of the album that they won't disappoint, they'll stay true to what you love about GN'R.

Of course, Bumblefoot; the person who leaked the premix of "Better" is the one mindfucking the fans. Who else could we possibly blame for screwing with us about this record?

Axl and Eddie Van Halen should form a supergroup and NOT release an album and postpone a tour. They'll be huge.

Idiots.

my band played with bumblefoot in coney island. they had a lot of people there for them. all those people stood outside the venue while we played. many had slayer t-shirts.

My appetite for "Democracy" waned sometime around 1992.

At this point, who gives a shit? Nothing they can release could live up to the buildup caused by the interminable delays. I am sure that they will still be mixing Axl and the Sidemen's masterpiece at this time next year.

who's bankrolling this project at this point? Axl? Anybody have any idea how much has been spent to make this album. Either way, I wonder if it is the most expensive album ever made??
