Paulatics (And Steve Perry Hearts Ben Gibbard)

Did you see ABC's Fallen Idol special? It had JAW-DROPPING reveleations about one of the judges of Americal Idol.

...

Randy Jackson played bass on Steve's bathetic '84 solo jawn "Foolish Heart." Did not realize, dawg. Shit is bananas.

Steve Perry hasn't updated his blog in a few weeks, but here's his latest Letter Of Truth:

Q: Is there any truth to the new rumor that you and the band are getting back together this summer when Journey is on the road ?
A: No, there is NO truth to that rumor. As of May 8, 1998, I'm no longer legally a member of Journey. The band may be jamming this summer with "X" members, but I will not be one of them.

Q: What music do you enjoy listening to? I heard you were a fan of Outkast and was wondering if that is true.
A: Yes, last year when I first heard Outkast I knew that this was going to go all the way. I now like to listen to Keane, Diana Krall, The Postal Service, Florida Inc. and some re-mixers like Thunder Puss 2000 and some new downloadable groups.

Q: Do you watch American Idol? Has Randy ever asked you to be a guest host?
A: No, I don't watch it, and he hasn't asked me to be a host, but he left me a message after the WOF Hollywood Star thing. Thanks for bringing him up cause I owe him a call.

If your iPod's not embarrassing enough, load up at Perryville. Postal Service should totally cover "Faithfully" all sincere-like

For sordid details about Paul Abdul's seduction of Corey Clark, check Daily News' recap.

Still waiting on an MP3 of "Paulatics." Corey's quite the poet...

"Your possibilities have gone to the top/ And if you breathe a word you will be dropped/ Your personality at first seemed to be so sweet/ But then I saw the you that they'll never show on TV."

Oh man, that show was the best. Randy in spandex rocked my world.

And I went in wanting to believe the guy lied. But he had her phone, prescription bottle, photos of them together, friends met her, the phone messages only after on his site there was mention of his cd dropping (he has a fan base that is pretty large), the phone bills, and everything else. I mean, she knew Randy was in freaking Journey. No one else knew and Randy didn't even share that info (Why Randy are you ashamed of your Steve Perry past?). This is going to get worse if she doesn't issue a statement of some kind besides "he's an opportunistic liar." She is forgetting her own past, because that is what she is: a hit-and-run then lie about it, former ED having, drug abusing girl.

Yeah, Jackson played on Perry's Street Talk album, but not on Journey's Raised on Radio. But he did tour with them on the Raised on Radio tour. (Not that anyone was even paying attention to Journey at that point.)

You're gonna leave Neil Schon and Jonathon Cain out of the Journey equation? Might as well leave Brad Gillis out of Night Ranger, or Mick Jones out of Foreigner.... oh please... STOP ME!

i second the steve perry ego thing ...

i worked with someone who was a HUGE steve perry fan ... this woman was a sweetheart but one of those people that life screwed over ... so a friend got her backstage passes to meet steve perry (like in 1996 when he had about 6 fans) ... and at the meet & greet, steve totally blows her off with barely a nod in her direction ... despite the fact the friend had totally introduced her as "here's someone who's a big fan and blah blah blah" and it was a meet & greet where he was supposed to meet & greet (i mean it wasnt like she interupted his dinner or something)

I find it so amazing that people have nothing better to do with there time than Bash different groups and Singers you may not like Journey and that is fine your aloud your own taste in music, but I think it is rather immature and anle on your parts. What have you done in your life to contribute to the world take a look at your self before you attack people like Steve Perry, Who may not be a day at the beach but, has the class to say nothing at all nasty about his former band mates which can't be said for some of you folks. At least his mom raised him right.

You are SO right. Steve Perry is a classy man. All you have to do to see this is read the interviews. Neal Schon is a prick, and Jonathan Cain is his puppet. Mrs. Mary Perry raised Steve right, for sure. As far as the meet-n-greet thing someone mentioned... Steve talks about being inaccessible to fans and the press in several interviews. It was to conserve his voice. A lot of good it did, though, since Journey stabbed him in the back in the end anyhow. Any way you look at it, Steve Perry is an amazingly talented man... in both singing and songwriting. The world misses him something fierce. I know I do.

That said, he "first heard Outkast I knew that this was going to go all the way"? This was what, 2003? You know that actor Tom Hanks? I think he's going to have a pretty decent career, just a hunch.

First of all you have to know about me that I don`t live in America(God bless this country) and I have listened to STEVE PERRY since most of you where in dipers...
I`m proud to say that nobody and I mean NOBODY can sing like Mr.Perry...and all of you out there, who try to put him down all the time, you better keep listening to this guy on and on and after that if you guys still say about the man he can sing or he sucks then my dear "labagiilor" you have to cut your ears off and flush them down the toillet.....
In many years from now on nobody will do with the human voice what Mr. Perry did with his own because it was GOD`s will that this guy will be the best of all time...if you don`t understand this, you waste your time listen to the music around you and you better commit suicide. That`s my advice to all of those who are bashing this singer...Live the guy alone!!
With my best regards to the ones who listen the VOICE of Mr. Perry...and enjoy---you live in the same century with this phenomenon called STEVE PERRY!!

I have been a Journey fan for a very long time. When Journey orignated ,Soon after leaving Santana, Production Manager Herbie Herbert pulled together a group of local San Francisco musicians including Ross Valory (Fumious Bandersnatch), Prairie Prince (The Tubes), George Tickner (Fumious Bandersnatch), and ex-Santana guitar prodigy Neal Schon. Eventually he would convince ex-Santana keyboard/vocalist Gregg Rolie to join the rest of the band. Originally named "The Golden Gate Rhythm Section," a local radio station held a contest to rename the band, but the name Journey was suggested by an associate of Herbie. After playing several performances, Prairie Prince opted to return to The Tubes. Herbie found Aynsley Dunbar (Frank Zappa) to take his place. Not to far into the future Greg Rolle left the band. Pressured into finding a lead singer, Journey would hire vocalist Robert Fleischman. Robert toured and recorded with the rest of the band, but was soon fired because of personal reasons. Herbie Herbert hired Steven Raymond Perry. Steve Perry is the greatest singer in rock and roll history. The album "Escape" went platinum. As I listen to the new voice of Journey, my heart does not melt at the sound of Steve Augeria as it did when I heart Steve Perry voice. To see Journey live when Steve Perry was their singer would take your breath away. So to all you people that are making fun of Steve Perry. If you think you could sing better. You now have your chance, American Idol is audi
tioning, Prove It..... You can also tell Judge Randy Jackson of American Idol, Journey's former bass player that Steve Perry can't sing. What do you thinkhe would say lol

Ok, first of all, as you can see by my signature, I'm a Steve Perry fan.
You all have your right to your own opinions, but when you begin to blast another for theirs, you become low. And that's not right in any forum.
Good god, everyone knew Randy was in Journey for the Raised on Radio tour. There's the video made by the NFL (yes football) for the tour. Countless pictures..so it's not a secret, and he announced it during the first season of AI..he's mentioned it several times in interviews. He's not ashamed of it at all. Calls it one of the best experiences of his life.
For the record, Steve did not tour in 96. And his name???? Stephen Ray Perry...not Steven Raymond. Where'd you get the bio from?
I say we get on with our lives, quit putting people down for their own opinions and enjoy the music that we enjoy..if you don't like what I play, plug your ears or walk away.

That was one of the smartest quotes i've heard. Although i do believe that everyone is entitled to an opinion, but when people start insulting someone who is more than just a singer to you, i think you have the right to defend him and argue their disgusting attitude and insults. I love how some ppl in this conversation have defended Steve Perry. Good God, i don't understand it, are some people deaf? This guys voice. It's heavanly. How can they not hear it.There is no such thing as Journey without him. But then again, God gave musical talents to some people, and others will always be deaf, thats what we truly ahve to accept.
Nice chattin with you, and God bless Steve.

Steve Perry will always be the voice and the face of Journey. He breathed life into the songs of Jonathon Cain and balanced off the raw power of Neal Schon's guitar playing with his soaring vocal abilities. I don't know if Steve Perry was an asshole or not, maybe he was...but he was the BEST singer I've heard in a rock band and til this day I haven't heard better.

To all the people that put me down, you can eat the peanuts out of my shit o.k. you couldn't hit those high notes if someone squeezed off your balls! So to all those losers out there that don't have nothing good to say can "Fuck Off" And one more thing I'd like to say is Neal you need to wake up and smell the coffee instead of sticking your head up Steve Augeri's Ass, and that goes for the rest of the band, I mean guy's wake up! If it weren't for me Journey wouldn't be nothing! So all of you can kiss my wrinkly ass...La Do Da, Your's Truly Thanks,

I was 13 when MTV aired the 1981 Journey concert from Houston. The concept of airing such a perfomance was in its inception and the result..pure, raw and so very real. Quite simply I was blown away. At the time I was too immature to realize I was watching not only a legendry band but a fading art. Journey was about the music. The truth in verse, the power of a note and the incredible ability to touch people through song. Steve Perry was the voice that gave this unbelievably talented group an identity. Not just because this man can sing but because he sings with his "heart on his sleeve". At 13 I could not have known this was why his voice and performance touched me so deeply. Now having experienced extreme happiness and sadness love, loss, laughter and tears I understand the heart and soul Steve Perry poured into the music that night in Houston and probably throughout his career. Imagine how exhausting it must be to put so much emotion into your work. Truly a labor of love. So when you get ready to bash him and/or Journey look at the majority of today's "bands." The music is contrived and rarely written by the actual performers. Deliberately choreographed machines designed to simulate talent and dedicated to making money not music. What happened to the kind of rock fueled by fabulous musicians and powerful lead singers? What a gift to be captured by Journey and Steve Perry in 1981. If ever he finds a way to sing for us again a new generation will experience the true power of music and God please let me be there!

Steve Perry---
We become so consumed with ourselves that we forget the cost of beauty. I apologize for my part of that. There are so many unanswered questions and yet the truth is so simple and right there it just takes the help of another to find it. The path is easy and the journey is painless. Can we please talk?

I have read so many opinions concerning the Steve Perry /Journey thing.I have come to this conclusion, we as fans pro or con really don't know what really went on while he was with yhe band.sometimes when a person suffers the slings and barbs of the media and the constant insults of coworkers that person can become mentally unbalanced by the pressure, especially if that person feels like he/ she wasn't really wanted from the beginning. I can understand his VH1 comment about "not feeling like a part of the band" I mean he didn't have a hard look about himself and probadly took a lot of abuse from the other members. how much can one human being take before breaking down or becoming defensive and verbally abusive toward everyone who that person thinks is a threat to their emotional stability. so please let the man live in some small sense of peace and security. remember he's only human.

I think everyone is entitled to like or dislike any music they want to. Thank goodness we are not forced to like the music of only some of the individuals in this forum. I love Steve's voice, it helped me through alot of pain in my life. Do I know what kind of person he is? no, but neither does the person who meets him briefly at a signing. Do you know what he went through that day? Do you know why he seemed to "blow her off"? You know, I don't want his life. I don't want to be a bug under a microscope with people judging my every move, and assuming what I think and feel. I know that I enjoy his music. I am entitled to like it and I could care less of anyone's opinion of that right. He is a person. Just as you and I are. He is no better or worse. I hope he continues to sing. I am an artist, and I would hate to see someone so talented stop using such a gift.
