I interviewed Malkmus very recently, and the way he was talking, this is simply not going to happen in 2009, or probably at any point in the next few years.

And you think of all people he would tell you? C'mon.

Money talks :)

Malkmus has shown a history of selling out for money, hasn't he? That's why he continues to write pop-radio gems and quit a band that probably made a good living. Don't be a douche, Ace, and call yourself Ace.

Pavement made very little money and he has tried to write radio-friendly indie-pop songs but hasn't had luck (shady lane, cut your hair, gardenia). He also said recently in an interview with rotoworld that he sees nothing wrong with selling a few songs to "put food on the table". So.....

I'm sure it will happen down the line, it's just that this year is definitely a Jicks year. They are writing and recording a new album and will tour for it, etc. So he's busy with that.

WHOA! Matthew Perpetua! There's a name I haven't heard in years. I remember buying a compilation of Pavement B-sides and live songs from you way back in 1998! You had decorated the CD-R with paint that others kept complaining made it hard to play in the drive. NIce to see you're still up on all things Pavement. Miss that message board.

I'm VERY VERY VERY cautiously letting my guard down just enough to momentarily fantasize about this being true.

Okay, moment's up. I call shenanigans.

Am I the only one who is vastly disappointed by the price tag for this concert? If they offered one-day passes, ala All Points West, it'd be a much better deal for a lot more people. As it is, it'll probably end up as a bunch of upper middle class white folks from New York City. Well, it is the Catskills. Wouldn't be too much of a shock to the system.

If ATP sold single-day tickets and made everything cheaper it would no longer be ATP...which is more amazing than any other concert/festival experience. Heaven forbid people in NYC whose work contributes to the ailing economy would be able to enjoy a weekend music festival - I guess that honor should be reserved for people who are trying to start their own bands. If you are looking for cheap festivals, check out Pitchfork...

atp is the best thing that has ever existed, so it kind of seems like a bargain to me. i mean, private jets cost millions of dollars and aren't even half as good. more realistically, average people spend a couple hundred thousand dollars on their home, but it doesn't even come close to providing HALF the awesomeness and spiritual fulfillment as atp.

all in all, it seems like quite the bargain at a measly few hundred dollars. especially since that includes accommodation.
