Perry Farrell So Not On The Same Planet

You've probably read about Perry Farrell's latest project Satellite Party. If not, you can check out MySpace and stream a song called "Awesome" that is far from awesome. Apparently the guitarist from Extreme is in the band, which is news to Perry.

Foo Fighter Taylor Hawkins told Rolling Stone that Farrell had no idea who Nuno was when he hired him.

"I guess everybody was giving Perry shit about it, and he didn't really know. He's like, 'I don't know, man, I met this guy at this party and I got along with him, we're writing some songs.' So like, Flea and everybody are just going, 'You dork, why are you hanging out with that guy?' I love that Perry is so not on the same planet as everybody he just missed that completely."
In Perry's defense, he was on an acid trip for most of the '90s. I wonder if he remembers Porno for Pyros.

did he even wonder when he found out the guys name was Nuno? wow.

sattelite party was at last years lollapalooza. it was the only bad part about the fest besides it being over 100 degrees outside.

True; Jane's Addiciton sucks. Like Three Days is a TERRIBLE song. Fur Fighters are pussies.

Their performance at lollapalooza made me ill... and I am positive it was them, not the chicken burrito.

Im guessing they are one of the "big additions" I keep hearing so much about.

ok, that song may suck, but c'mon...he's still perry, and i'll always have a respect for the guy. i actually love the fact he doesn't give shit about who was in what band. he meets a fellow musician, they hit it off, he's cool with that. the man gets much love from mike watt on watt's hootpage (http://www.hootpage.com/hoot_pfp.html), that's proof enough for me.

Why all the hatin' on Nuno? Dude can play. Extreme > almost every other "hair" metal band ever. \m/

Extreme - Kings of The Hair Metal Bands!

Seriously, if guitar proficiency was so important, we'd all be wearing Yngwie Malmsteen t-shirts. Apologies if I've misspelled your hero's name - I didn't feel like looking it up.

face it, Hair metal is alternative now. Perry is ahead of the crowd.

Perry was totally on another planet on The Henry Rollins Show, too. He's done enough druggin' to enter perma-space cadet territory.

"Three Days" will always remind me of good times with bad(ish) boys during my high-school years.

Sheesh - a band releases one good record in the 90s (Nothing's Shocking), and for the rest of recorded time we all have to live with their awful solo projects, reunited tours, skanky C-list wives and lame reality TV shows.

Damn. Who does Farrell think he is - Kip Winger?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't these grown men in their 30s and 40s? Because for a second I thought I was reading about junior high schoolers.

Nuno is an amazing guitarist. No joke. He was in a cheesy band, but he's one of the best guitarists around.

Yeah, Nuno deserves some respect, he's a hell of a guitarist. Before you hate on him, try to take your head out of your ass and go beyond "More than words"...

Flea's just hatin' because there was this feud between RHCP and Extreme back in the late 80's.

Wow. I just wanna know what planet YOU guys are on, hating on Perry like that. (Or maybe it's not your fault - I forgive all of you who were born after 1976 for just being too young to know better.) Sure, he doesn't have a fantastic singing voice, but he LIVES his art. Furthermore, Jane's Addiction pioneered an entire genre. I don't care if you like the music, but at least respect the artist. He has more courage & perseverance than 99% of the people on this planet. The man is & always has been true to himself.
