Dirty Projectors @ The Troubadour, West Hollywood 7/8/09

After spending some much needed time recuperating after having their lives flipped over, Dave Longstreth's troupe of mind benders have resumed the good work of spreading their Bitte opus to understandably packed houses. Last night's sell-out hit our photographer Andrew Youssef as "one of the top shows of the year," and as you know, dude sees a lot of shows. The merch table had cassettes, the setlist featured a mix of Orca, Rise Above, and New Attitude. Opening the night was a well received set from local instrumental crew What's Up. But mostly this post is just a reminder that you should see Dirty Projectors live, soon and often.

I dunno. I like the record well enough.
It just seems these guys are "theoretically" more interesting than I actually find them to be.
Like I can identify all the parts that are supposed to be compelling, but save for a few tracks it's just not really grabbing or keeping me.
Different strokes and all that I guess.

You absolutely have to see them live. I was at this show and they are amazing. The way the girls harmonize and bounce the sounds around has to be seen to be believed

These guys are amazing... I haven't heard them live myself though. I would like to be in person to hear how they pull some of this stuff off. Watching videos on YouTube is not the same.

OK...so it was nice to see the magazines warming up to them a little bit...but now it's next month and nothing to follow it up...magazines COULD survive if they if they believed in the power of good writing...I'd settle for a REAL good magazine article that gets to the core of shit If TV were run PROPERLY they would've at least been on the Scotish guys show..."Useful Chamber" with the right energy...that would still be the quickest way...MOJO sure loves them some Fleet Foxes...

If Rolling Stone were honest Malkmus would get the cover now and then...just because he's real somebody like Neil in my opinion?

Just when I thought I couldn't possibly love Angel more, she goes and wears a Spacemen 3 shirt. You're killing me woman.
