I'm sorry, but all these guys (except maybe Mike Mogis) have become pretentious assholes.

Saw them twice---both times had ups and downs ---most notable was how undersold the venues were!!! Serious extra seats for sale

Well, at least part of this has to be attributed to the ticket cost. It was more than $50. This summer The Dead Weather played the same venue for $15 - $20 less, and they brought with them a lot more of a tour rig and presentation. The cancelled 2007 White Stripes show at the Paramount also cost less than this. Last fall Conor and the Mystic Valley Band played the Showbox (not a theatre, but a quite large club, also in Seattle) for only $20. The problem was that the Monsters chose to play a charity tour and still make money. This entire tour seems to be made up of expensive shows at big venues.

Uhhhhhhh............Despite the fickle nature of the indie rock audience, I wouldn't take ticketsales as an indication of anything other than a recession.

HA! I know what you mean. My mom's long standing crush on Don Henley is kind of adorable. Let's hope they make it until a Monsters of Folk 2035 reunion tour.

Just moved to Louisville and they're playing a costume-themed halloween show here. I can't afford it (no job yet) but tickets are still available.... if they can't sell out a special show in jim's (yim's?) hometown... they need to seriously rethink prices

i managed to pick up 3 front row seats on ebay for under 100 bucks... the place was empty until about 30 minutes in and it filled up fast.

2 1/2 hours of solid music, one of the greatest shows ive ever been too

My favorite parts of the LA Greek show were 1. Jim James letting loose with his big voice (Gear God, I will Be There, and Master's Voice) 2. M Ward's guitar playing and dancing around the stage is very entertaining to watch. 3. Conor Oberst sang every song with a ton of enthusiasm. He seems so angry, and also happy to be onstage with these guys. 4. Mike Mogis playing a million different instruments, including dobro, slide, and triangle.

Jim James also had some great between-song comments, like the trees at the Greek, which are lit up with red and yellow lights, being "Lucasfilm CGI trees." Will Johnson was awesome. He also picked up the guitar and sang a duet with Jim James. The Jim James-Conor Oberst duet I Will Be There When You Die was very emotional, very cool. I'm really glad I went.
