Kyp Malone releases his solo debut as Rain Machine today via ANTI-, so think of last night's tour kickoff at Brooklyn's Bell House as a hometown friends, fam, and neighbors album-release party. A party with a great opening act in Sharon Van Etten. This was the first time Kyp's Rain Machine band played together onstage, and according to our photographer Kyle Dean Reinford the sound will sit well with those inconsolable over news of TV On The Radio's hiatus. (Relax, it's only a year.) That's not surprising given "Give Blood" hitting like TVOTR thrown into a loose and scuzzed, mystical late-night basement jam; that Kyp kept a a live-wire intensity up for most of the album-spanning set is maybe more so. If you were there, you probably remember the photographer who took 500 flash photos, climbed the stage, and made everyone his enemy last night. Please note these photos are flash-free. What's up with the beard already? He looks ridiculous, I doubt anyone can take him seriously.

yeah cause even though he is accomplished musician who plays in one of the most interesting bands in the last decade and has contributed many side projects that are actually worth a listenting. But all of that is meaningless due to the fact that he has a ridiculous looking beard. Good one Hipst0r, I'm sure you're gonna go far!
