The 2009 BRIT Awards Looked Like This

Tonight the British music industry packaged their self-image for all to YouTube. The nominations were very Duffy with a side of Coldplay, and Duffy wound up being the main dish, but poor Chris Martin & Band couldn't follow their three-statue Grammy night with even a single award from their four nominations. Instead it's [SPOILER] Kings Of Leon that's the rock band the BRITs love. Biggest props went to Duffy, KoL, Pet Shop Boys, and Not Katy Perry Hello Kitty dress (although she has a cat named Kitty Purry and that's funny). David Hasselhoff was there, Brandon Flowers came out on "It's A Sin" during the Pet Shop Boys medley, obvs to both. The award show ended tonight around 11:30PM in the future in the UK, so clips and photos are now starting to spill their way through the internet. We've got 'em alongside a full winner's list and a guylinered Bono doing "Get On Your Boots" for hopefully the last time on television. Enjoy!

Despite the fact that awards shows seem to tell me otherwise, I maintain that Fleet Foxes are the best.

Those were some lively performances right there. Everyone seemed to try their best. And would you look at that, the audience actually reacts... even the people at the tables. The UK kicks our ass when it comes to music appreciation.

It's a horrible album because you don't think it's cool to like it cause they aren't "indie" enough for you. I love all their albums and don't apologize for it. You're one of those people who goes out of your way at record stores to seem musically superior to others. You don't buy certain records for fear it might diminish your "cred" and if there is an obscure song you know playing you make sure you sing it loud enough so others can hear you. You also feel the need to pontificate about obscure indie loud enough so others can hear you. You're not one of those people that thinks Fleet Foxes is too "mainstream" do you? I'm sure Animal Collective will be your number one album this year regardless of how much you actually listened to it. Sorry about my rambling diatribe.

1. you need to relax.
2. no, i don't feel comfortable calling any album BEST OF THE YEAR during the 2nd week of january.
3. calm down.
4. i don't worry too much about cred but apparently you do.
5. i liked KoL's first three albums.
6. relax.

Wow, such extensive psychoanalysis from one comment. I'm sure you've got Grace and me pegged, though, because I know at least I'm totally worried about my 'cred.' That's why I secretly have three copies of "Only By The Night" in a little shrine in my room under lock and key so nobody finds out that I like music that isn't indie. Heaven forbid they find out about those old Matchbox 20 albums, I would be ruined! It was just a phase, I swear!

I'm glad you don't apologize for liking music, but you probably should apologize for being an ass and whining about people who don't enjoy the same music that you do. Now, go listen to some Animal Collective.

Not even Lady Gaga or Brandon Flowers could ruin the Pet Shop Boys performance.

Honestly, I think Brandon Flowers sounded good. Maybe he was totally unnecessary in the performance, but he does have a nice voice.

Lady GaGa on the other hand. Ugh in so many ways.

i guess just calling them crayons isn't much of an insult....you have to add "gay" to really make it really sting. thank god for homophobia! without it our jokes would be so dull......

you all remember this...
http://www.blogcdn.com/www.tmz.com/media/2008/10/1016_obama_mccain02.jpg

also, i just decided that Kings of Leon might have had a round robin of rock, paper, scissors to decide which of them could keep their hair. remember back in the day when they were getting shoveled in with Jet and The Darkness for throwback rock style. good call on stylistically jumping that ship. And congrats to Drummer Followill.

wow brit aawards are as unrepresentative of good music as the grammys are.. good to know. also has anyone else noticed Duffy has NO stage presence and her voice is annoying?

Looks like Brandon Flowers has taken the title of "Gayest Jacket Ever" away from the Coldplays. And by gayest, I don't mean dopest.

It's cool to see that the guy from Twilight is playing guitar in KOL. Also, they have the worst singer in the history of music. Worse than Eddie Vedder, even.

Boy, I thought the scenography during U2's Grammy performance that highlights the awful lyrics was that show producer's fault, but it's clear now that U2 can't tell the difference anymore. What's up dude?! You've had some good songs in the past!

And the eyeliner is a nice touch, Bono. It definitely doesn't make you look like an old man.
