Thom Yorke @ Orpheum, Los Angeles 10/4/09

Unlike Friday's show at the Echoplex, Thom Yorke and his new crew's Orpheum gig last night was not a "rehearsal." What that seems to mean, in practical terms, was one big tradeoff (less bare Yorke chest/belly, more extensive stage lighting setup) and one setlist deviation in Sunday night's addition of "Super Collider." Photographer Andrew Youssef files these photos, and tells us that, in a sweet gesture, Yorke dedicated "Paperbag Writer" to Colin Greenwood, who was in attendance to check out the set and not because he's threatened by Flea at all. (Danny Masterson, Tobey Maguire, Don Johnson (!), and Anne Hathaway also attended too, but got no dedication.) Last night's setlist and some video:

01 "The Eraser"
02 "Analyze"
03 "The Clock
04 "Black Swan"
05 "Skip Divided"
06 "Atoms For Peace"
07 "And It Rained All Night"
08 "Harrowdown Hill"
09 "Cymbal Rush"
----
(Thom solo)
10 "Lotus Flower" [New alternate title: "Moon Upon A Stick"]
11 "Open The Floodgates"
12 "Supercollider"
----
13 "Paperbag Writer"
14 "Judge, Jury, & Executioner"
15 "The Hollow Earth"
16 "Feeling Pulled Apart By Horses"

"Lotus Flower"/"Moon Upon A Stick"

"Open The Floodgates"/"Super Collider"

He's so cute.

Also, I hope he changes up the setlist a little tonight. But if he didn't, I wouldn't mind. The performance videos I've seen have been amazing.

Just before "Open the Floodgates" on Friday night at the Echoplex, I requested Super Collider. I guess Thom decided to add it for the next show. Glad some of you got to hear/see it! The "rehearsal show" was a real gift, thanks Thom.

He decided to add it just for you?
The world need to revolve around something, I guess.

I heard Bruce Willis was there and Jim Carrey too! Man I wish I was there instead of hanging around with Dennis Quaid at the Hollywood bowl for Kylie Minogue. I bet none of you smarties knew that the Dennis Quaid LOVES Kylie Minogue!

Sitting near to Don Johnson and in front of Phil Selway was wild. Phil! It was surreal going to the concert and having him in the audience. Haha.

Anyone else think that Eraser live needs to be turned into an album? Absolutely unbelievable. I've always loved the Eraser, but what they did to it was amazing. Thom sat there smirking when singing the lyrics to "harrowdown hill". felt like he was going to come after the govt who did that shit. And cymbal rush live is now my favorite song. ever.

basically, los angeles > nyc

You haven't heard thom sing until you hear him sing live. Best show, EVER. I am glad I drove 8 hours to see him, I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

Colin doesn't need to fear the Flea. They're totally different players and Colin is quite good at what he does. Yaaaay new Radioheads!
