Pitchfork Music Festival Is This Weekend And Should Be Pretty Great

When we arrive at a concert fest's gates, we'll usually publish a Sets To See post, separating the wheat from the Jack Johnson. With Pitchfork's annual Music Festival, though, that's a waste. Just see everything. Last year it was Slint and the Clipse and Mastodon and crazy warehouse afterparties and too much more, and this year's lineup is no less bloggable. Tonight comes the powered-by-ATP entire-album-recreation sets, including Mission Of Burma's Vs., Sebadoh's Bubble And Scrape, and Public Enemy's It Takes A Nation... (which I'm out of my brain about) -- and the rest of the lineup's too densely stacked to rattle off in any meaningful manner, short of laying out the timetable. So, here's the timetable:
Friday, July 18 (in conjunction with All Tomorrow's Parties/Don't Look Back):
6:00 p.m. Mission of Burma performing Vs. (C)
7:15 p.m. Sebadoh performing Bubble and Scrape (C)

For SMS lovers, get each day's lineup to your phone by texting "Pitchfork" to 54295 on the day you're curious about. Forkcast calls for isolated thunderstorms tonight right in time for Mission Of Burma at 6PM (continuing throughout the weekend, yay), so if you're here bring a poncho. If you're not, stay happy, stay dry -- Brandon and I will be coming with photos and words throughout the weekend.

I can't wait for PE tonight. Though Mission of Burma is going to make it all worthwhile before they even do their sound check.
I actually did a "what to see" posting, but I may not know what I'm talking about. Check it out here:

Wish I could go, the lineup looks pretty good. Guess I'll have to make do with Siren.

I saw about half of these bands at Primavera Sound Fest in Barcelona - including Public Enemy doing that whole album - loud as hell and generally awesome live show.
Don't miss Bon Iver.

i'm just glad they moved the balance stage this year. hopefully that'll remedy the massive clusterfuck that was the dan deacon & girl talk sets.

The Hold Steady is easily the best thing on Saturday. Hell, its the best thing at the festival.
Looking forward to the fleet foxes and spiritualized as well.

This lineup makes me sad...sad that I'm unable to go! I won't be like all the other self-entitled New Yorkers(see any thread on BroklenVegan.com) and complain about All Points West's lineup, I mean two nights of Radiohead can't be all bad, right? But this is hands down the best festival this summer.
To all that are going to attend, I hate you...but have fun. : )
