Radiohead Announce North American Tour Markets For 2008
Thom's talked tough about never releasing data on the number of folks that downloaded Radiohead's latest opus from inrainbows.com (nor what they paid ... although he did reveal how many parted with the maximum allowed £99.99), but Billboard can say with specificity that enough folks went to record stores this week to make In Rainbows the #1 album in the US (122,000 of 'em), which follows the record having gone to #1 in the UK as well. So in news probably separate by timed well enough to be called "a celebration of this chart success," the band's gone and announced the cities (no dates or venues yet, mind) that they'll hit in 2008. And of course we've posted 'em for you, partially to get you excited, and partially to marvel at how few other bands we'd run a dateless, venueless story like this for (My Bloody Valentine and a John-and-George-resurrected Beatles come to mind).
In alphabetical order, then:
AtlantaSorry to keep you in suspense like that, Washington. Dates and venues when we get 'em, although we're told it'll unfold in two chunks: one before their UK tour, and one after.
Boston
Charlotte
Chicago
Cleveland
Dallas
Houston
Indianapolis
Los Angeles
Miami
Montreal
New York
Philadelphia
San Diego
San Francisco
Santa Barbara
Seattle
St Louis
Tampa
Toronto
Vancouver

Why aren't they coming to Portland, Oregon? Tickets would easily sell out. I don't want to have to drive up to Seattle!

I wonder if Los Angeles in any way = Coachella? Probably not ...

Radiohead are missing out on a golden opportunity by not playing Portland. They've got lots of fans here who just ride bikes.

When a band plays a "North American" tour but only plays Toronto and Montreal in Canada, then they should just call it a U.S. tour. Because it gets my hopes up every single time, and we all know that every band stops there anyway.

I realized about two seconds too late that they've also got Vancouver on their tour dates. Lame.
Ottawa is still cool, guys.

i will not miss this tour, by the hammer of thor!

I think they should just pull a White Stripes and tour all of Canada. You don't really need any more money or warmth do you Radiohead?

Looks like I'm making a trip to Vancouver! I was not expecting them to stop in Calgary so I'm not upset. I wouldn't stop in Calgary either.
Score = 0
Hi Ben -- Calgary crowds can be a bit lame anyway, plus it's an excuse to go to Van for a couple of days.

Guess I'll be traveling.

Sorry ya'll, but I am stoked about Tampa--we usually get left out, but not this time...when it really counts. <3

I've been waiting for this news since they finished their last Vancouver show...I'm gonna hit the seattle show too, wished I lived in Cali tho! Lucky bastards...anyone whos been with Radiohead since Pablo Honey will understand...oh yea...in rainbros: spot on. Reckoner's the best song from In rainbows, even if its completely different from the original.

i didnt believe this when i heard it at first. but thank you stereogum, for reinforcing my hopes of being able to see radiohead in indianapolis
by the way, all of the venues are supposed to be able to be acessed by public transportation. if that gives you any hint.
aka: for all you hoosiers: either conseco or white river.

Thirds on the Portland, OR date. I mean, I thought we've established ourselves enough to where we are done getting skipped for Seattle. At least my rent says so.

Go read radiohead's ecological footprint report.

that's exactly what they DON'T WANT YOU TO DO.
but.. I guess a lot of people will anyway.

Dear fellow Canadians:
If you want to guarantee that big international acts will come to your city you must move to the capital of Canada.... Toronto!! You whiny Calgarians have much better skiing though.
Can't wait to see Radiohead again. They just get better and better.

Uh...hello....Calgary has fans too.....and BTW....most of the snow is already GONE in Calgary and we're all waiting to go golfing.....can't say that about Montreal or TO right now can you????
LMFAO

This tour is gonna be great
I can see now, thousands of people singing S'll Right S'll Wrong!!!
can't wait

If you think Toronto is the capital of Canada I feel bad for you, guy up there ^^.
Anyways, I'm 90 mins from Toronto but probably won't be able to afford tickets (being a broke ass college student). Anyone know how much they usually run?
Score = 0
i'm not quite sure how santa barbara is justified in the whole 'we're only playing cities with good transportation links,' but i'm not complaining. i'm in LA and i'll probably catch shows in all 4 california cities.
Score = 0
i will fly or drive anywhere to see them!
Score = 0
It doesn't matter how much they cost, because I won't be able to get a ticket! Last time they did back to back shows in Toronto and I was online 10 minutes before they went on sale and I didn't manage to get anything! I hope they play the ACC or something, even though it is cheesy. At least I'll have a chance at getting a ticket. They could easily sell out in excess of 5 shows here. Maybe 10. Maybe 20. They are Radiohead.

Friend of mine is flying to europe for a couple shows and also plans on driving to as many US dates as possible. Talk about taking a shit on Thom's message, eh?

RADIOHEAD IS AMAZING I dont even like montreal but cant wait to go
Score = 0
yeah, mid-western Canada always gets shafted for no good reason. it's not as if they don't have airports to fly in and out of and large venues that sell out. not that I care too much, because I'm in Montreal, but it's still pretty ridiculous.
Score = 0
Houston really sucks....unless you like "parking lots"
Austin would have been nice...maybe ACL?
Score = 0
I'm so excited they're coming to Houston. Despite being the 4th largest city in the country we passed over a lot for Dallas or Austin. People also forget that since the state is so big that driving to either place is a 4 hour or 3 hour drive (respectively). The Cynthia Woods Pavillion is a cool venue, and I'm pretty stoked about having tickets.
rocknrollchad is 'lame.'

I WILL be parked in the front row for an Indy show! Last trip here was in mid 90's opening for REM - best show to ever hit Naptown!
Score = 0
Man, if Calgarians/Vancouverites are complaining about shows, you should try living in St. John's, NL for a few years. You should count yourself lucky that at least indie bands consider you worth visiting, we never saw ANYTHING out that way. Except for a handfull of Canadian bands, Choke, Constantines, Hidden Cameras, Moneen and Wintersleep come to mind.
Score = 1
they haven't played in dallas in a really long time..im really excited :D

Could anyone email me and let me know (ahead of time) when Radiohead is playing Montreal this year?

So its true then? some asshole stole Thom's guitar when they played Colorado some years back and they're never going to play here again? I think I'm gonna crap myself if I don't see them before its too late...

DAMMNNNIITTTTTTT!!! living in mississippi SUCKS as far as concerts go. (no pun intended)

I had my hopes up that might stop in Winnipeg, but no such luck. I started a facebook group for Radiohead to come to Central Canada but I don't think it will help. Why does Canada get so shafted when it comes to Canadian dates, they've got soooo many fans here. Guess Toronto is the closest place.

Radiohead band has marked itself as one of the most popular rock bands. Their style is known of the harmony found among its members. And this is what helps them create a good music. Since its creation in the early nineties up till now Radiohead has captured people’s attention and succeeded to gather more and more audience. Their popularity is fairly remarkable while in a concert. It become so hard to find a ticket and prices become so high. As I am one of thousands of their fans, this problem upsets me and in more than once I missed some concerts due to tickets prices. Lately, a friend recommended me a site to compare ticket prices and I find it interesting idea because this way I can look for the cheapest prices in the ticket market. In case you want to us it here it is:
