Radiohead Score The New Chuck Palahniuk Flick Fight Club author Palahniuk's next novel getting big screen treatment is Choke, and Radiohead's scoring the whole thing: a song for the end credits, and ambient music to go throughout. The movie's out 9/26, so it looks like we're getting an In Rainbows follow-up sooner than expected. More at At Ease. UPDATE: Yeah .... no.

There's a part at the beginning of the book where a character is banging something in rhythm to "the bass line of his favorite Radiohead song. Two fast beats and three slow beats." I never knew what Radiohead song it was until now.

After reading the article that this post is linked to, I'm positive it's Creep bc he says he was listening to Pablo Honey while writing the book.

Let me be the first to say: YAAAYY because more radiohead = good thing. always. But also let me say BOOOO...because hollywood = bastardization of good art.

Fight Club was a great movie... but the ending was a disaster, both literally and how it strayed from the book!

In the audio commentary on the Fight Club DVD, Fincher and Pitt talk about how they wanted to get Radiohead to score that movie. It of course didn't work out and they had to settle for the Dust Brothers. Interesting that they would do this one. Looking forward to it.
But not nearly as much as I'm looking forward to seeing them tomorrow

I saw Choke when they had the Sundance Institute at BAM screenings a couple months ago. Really awful. Can't believe Radiohead would waste their talents on something like this.

I actually was glad that the Dust Brothers did the score to Fight Club. The soundtrack helped make the movie for me, and I still listen to it on its own occasionally.

It'll be cool to finally see a Palahniuk adaptation with a Radiohead score. Palahniuk has wanted to do that since Fight Club.

"No one in the Radiohead organization is aware of the band composing any original, incidental, or ambient music for Choke. They only know of 'Reckoner' being used over the end credits."
