Radiohead In NYC Mastering LP7, Hanging With Spoon, Bumming Camel Ultra Lights, Etc.
Between a mix of tipster emails and Pitchfork Festival gossip, we cobbled together a slice of news that NME beat us to, citing an ateaseweb forum member. 'the king left,' as he's known to the Radiohead online nerd community, offered this nugget from his encounter with Colin and Ed at the secret GaGaGaGaGa listening party at Hi-Fi last week:
The poster wrote: "They're in the city mastering the album. Then they're going to listen to it, see what they think. So, we're almost there, maybe."The poster's friend Marty also asked Greenwood if one of the much mooted tracks would make it onto the release.
He wrote: "Oh yeah when Marty asked Colin (Greenwood) if 'Nude' was going to be on LP7Colin looked uncomfortable, said "hehe hehe, maybe, if we can do it right..." and slinked back inside. This was after Marty gave him a Camel Ultra Light too. Some people, I tell you. Favours for favour(s) my ass."One of our emailers with ties to the mastering house said the band's asked that all audio files (save the masters) be deleted, concerned for a repeat of the Hail To The Thief demo leak. The only other bit of unsubstantiated info we can add to this highly speculative post: Industry folks at Pitchfork this weekend said "the new Radiohead is going to blow minds." Umm, obviously. You needed an anonymous insider to tell you that like you need a cat tied to a stick that's driven into frozen winter shit, we know. But admit it ... you're getting even more excited.
The Hi Fi thing wasn't really that secret?
They were handing out flyers for it at Virgin that afternoon...
Posted by: Weh? at July 17, 2007 2:14 PMI'm telling you, those Radiohead kids, they're going places.
Posted by: Matt at July 17, 2007 2:31 PM"The King Left" isn't a person, but rather a band... http://myspace.com/thekingleft
Posted by: Ben Fong at July 17, 2007 2:46 PMNo way Matt, they're just a flavor of the month, and you'll all be lining up to hate on them this time next year.
Posted by: Liam at July 17, 2007 2:46 PMI still have hope that this record will be good. But part of me thinks it's going to suck real hard.
Posted by: Evan at July 17, 2007 2:48 PMwho gives a toss, lp7 will put all its listeners into a 6 week coma. fuck off radiohead
Posted by: matt at July 17, 2007 3:04 PMyeah king left opened the Long Blondes show at bowery, they were pretty good.
Posted by: trevor at July 17, 2007 3:36 PMi saw the king left at maxwells with we are scientists and snowden. great show.
Posted by: bobby at July 17, 2007 3:40 PMYeah the king left are pretty good. I think they're playing with Tokyo Police Club coming up @ Bowery. I do feel bad posting a comment about another band when this is really about Radiohead. Can't wait to get my mind blown, sounds fun.
Posted by: Dude at July 17, 2007 3:48 PMWho the fuck is Radiohead? Whatever. I'm going to go listen to that new band, the Smashing Pumpkins. That bald dude's got something, there.
Posted by: The Other Matthew at July 17, 2007 3:59 PMThe Hifi day was crazy. I tripped right in front of Ed O'Brien near Bleecker and MacDougal probably around 6pm or 7pm. My wife didn't believe when I said who it was.
Posted by: strapp at July 17, 2007 4:40 PMi got an invite to the hi-fi club thing but i didnt go. but if i saw a member of radiohead on the street my head would explode
Posted by: Jonathan at July 17, 2007 4:53 PMCorey, who posts on atease as the king left, was really worried that his joking tone was lost in the the many places where this story is being picked up and repeated... he would be mortified if anyone thought he was actually being rude about Colin's response. You can read the full account on the Atease Main Forum, http://www.ateaseweb.com
Posted by: Juliet at July 17, 2007 5:03 PMNo thanks, Juliet. That kid can enjoy his 30 seconds of fame and endure a little mortification. I wouldn't get near the AtEase forum with a 10 foot pole. It's like an asshole convention up in there.
Posted by: Catnip at July 17, 2007 6:08 PM"The new Radiohead is going to blow minds."
Uh, duh? How many new songs have already been played live and consequently spread around the world?
I just hope that they don't do too much fussing around in the studio with some of these tracks; my mind's already been blown by "Videotape" and "Bodysnatchers" in their natural states.
Posted by: Cherry Ghost at July 17, 2007 6:34 PMi can't believe they are insinuating that Nude will not make it to LP7....shit's 10 years old and we would have welcomed it with open arms anywhere along the way. i know they put strings on the new version too....biggest cock teases EVER.
Posted by: christian at July 17, 2007 8:13 PMorignal matt never backed pumpkins, the other matthew can bite the bullet.
Posted by: matt at July 18, 2007 12:03 AMthinking radiohead is boring=liking the pumpkins. lot of logic there you silly bastsard.
Posted by: matt at July 18, 2007 12:05 AMMatt, honey, I was kidding.
Anyway, "Nude" isn't that great, imo. I want - no, NEED - "15 Step" to be on this album. Preferably not butchered into something completely different too, if you could, lads.
Posted by: The Other Matthew at July 18, 2007 12:13 AMI will agree with all the radiohead surpasses the pumpkins, i dont know what it is about radiohead that I don't get. It just flies over me head
Posted by: matt at July 18, 2007 10:48 AMCan't wait for LP7, though a late '07 release seems pretty unlikely at this point.
Also, I like The King Left (band that is).
Posted by: Peregrine at July 18, 2007 5:54 PMThere is not one single musical creation by Radiohead that sucked!
Jealousy sucks!
Can't wait to hear the new album I know it will be another work of art!
Radiohead fan forever!
