RE: Scissor Sisters Cover Franz Ferdinand

Scissor Sisters - "Take Me Out" is the highest fidelity version I've found so far. Thanks Audrey.

Also recommended:
Tara Jane O'Neil - "The Poisoned Mine."
Link via Ryan.

And if that stuff's too mellow for you, I heard a rumor the new Prodigy lives here.

i heard scissor sister's cover of take me out on the radio tonight and it sucked. how fucking lame is it to release a cover of a current radio hit as a single? what a blatant attention scam. the end.

Scissor Sisters are making pop sexy again. ..listening to kcrw music online, and just heard this cover of the scissor sister's...
came here, found link, and now like a warm cookie i am much happier. i hate to exude badsquishy vibes, but heya...what's wrong w/ a cover of current hit-thang if it's welldone? damn musicians & their overt attention-grabbing-scam-plans. ::arrrgh...makes me want to go out and play some covers...think i will.

Is it Jake Shears of the Scissor Sisters singing in the cover of Franz Ferdinand's Take Me Out?

This cover version was done for a radio session for the British channel Radio 1. For these sessions it is quite usual for bands to record three of their own songs and then throw in an odd one as a kind of novelty, for-the-fans, we are having a laugh sort of thing. I would expect it from a band like Scissor Sisters, who clearly enjoy a joke.
Its not so much as a huge honour to the already classic Franz Ferdinand track as a nod by Scissor Sisters to another decent band that is reviving the moribund British music charts. The bands have both gone into print about their mutual admiration. It is also, as far as I am aware Dara, not a new release, not a blatant attention scam, just a fun session that ended up on the internet. If you don't like it, thats fine but loosen up and enjoy it for the throwaway piece of knockabout that it obviously is.

i think this track is cool, only came across it as a mate of mine bugged me for 2 days to find it, he heard it on live lounge. but what i like about the original is the kick-ass attitude-turn up really loud and sing ur little heart out-ness, but this is alright too!

Liam and dara need to calm-the-fuck-down. Franz and scissors are both great bands that both have great songs, and there shouldn't be all this bitching about good music by good musicians. even if it is a recent cover.
can't wait to see the scissors in sydney and hope they play it.

Why are there poker ads? This should be about Take Me Out by Scissor Sisters - which I think is a good cover, but they could never be better than Franz (muhahaha *cough*cough* hahaha).

"One of the funkiest songs songs in existence, covered by one of the funkiest groups in existence" - That's bollocks...get your head into James Brown man...However, the cover is quality, I wasn't so sure about SS before, but they have just proved how good they really are - Heard it in my uni bar last night and it rocked the roof off...quality.

I can't believe that I've never heard this before! What a gorgeous cover! I loved the original song for its raw, pounding, earnest energy and I love this cover for it's contrasting but equally lovable beautiful tinkly piano and funky bass combo, Jake's brilliant singing and its overall sense of spontaneity. Here the Scissor Sisters are strutting their stuff and damn it's good!

Wow! This is soooooooo BAD. Why did they even bother making this TERRIBLE cover of such an amazing song. I've heard this song on the radio twice over the past day and that's enough to last the rest of my life. PLEASE, have every copy of this song incinerated never to be heard again and I'll die a happy man.
