Modest Mouse's new album totally took me by surprise. I wasn't prepared for its full-on awesomeness. Here are two tracks:

Modest Mouse - "Float On"
Modest Mouse - "The Devil's Workday"

Buy it April 6. I'm going to.

Want to know what I like best about the mp3s you post, Scott? (aside from their unabashed musical excellence...) We share an aesthetically pleasing all-lower-case file naming convention. I bet your mp3 directory is just as pretty (and anal) as mine.
Thanks 'n' keep it up!

this new stuff sounds more similar to the Ugly Casanova album (than past MM). if you don't have that, i recommend it HIGHLY. took a while to "take" but once it did... addicted!

I've also heard the track "bukowski" from this album, and it's got some of the finest use of banjo in indie-rock that I've heard. I'm going to see them in Pomona next weekend. I've been listening to them for six years and I've yet to see them live.

whoa- the last time i was listening to Modest Mouse they sounded all depressed and on barbituates- they must have had happy genes implanted in their collective D.N.A.- (oh and thanks for the free music)

As if my birthday being on April 6th wasn't reason enough to celebrate.

I've been listening to the mouse since their first ep and have loved it all. But in listening to the entire new album for the past few weeks, I say this, THIS is the stuff legends of indie rock are made of.

I'm sure you figured this out by now, but the "float on" mp3 is really "the view." now if i can just find some lyrics. oh and yes, even people as far away as atlanta read your blog
