RIP Johnny Ramone

Via AP: "Along with his wife, Linda Cummings, Johnny Ramone was surrounded at his death by friends, including Pearl Jam rocker Eddie Vedder, singer Rob Zombie and others. Other friends who gathered at his Los Angeles home included Lisa Marie Presley, Pete Yorn, Vincent Gallo and Talia Shire."

The last face I wanna see before I die is so not Vincent Gallo's.

I would've never guessed that Talia Shire would be such close friends with one of the Ramones. I wonder what her and Gallo talked about.

Eddie Vedder ...what a friggin tool ..does he leach on to everyone who was /is relevant ..because he desperately wants to validate his lyrics .. um note to Eddie ..you dont get talented through osmosis ... hanging with a Ramone, Neil Young.. is still going to leave you in the same place.. a celebrity by default ..whose music is extremely neglible ...

Seriously, the Vedder hate is misplaced. Like him or not, I'm sure he wouldn't have been there if Johnny didn't consider him a friend. Save your bile for another day, rob.

Well, I can see the Gallo-Ramone connection now ... they were both 'conservatives' whatever the fuck that means ... Stomp Out Those Goddamn Pinkos! And R.I.P!

sad 2 see the any Ramone go. Joey's solo work was pretty decent.

Was i the only one who thought it legitimized vedder that a Ramone thought highly enough of him to want him near at a tender time?

/i'm just sayin'...

I think they invited Gallo in an attempt to scare the grim reaper away.

The inside buzz is that Gallo wants to remake Rocky, but with the notable inclusion of at least one sad, artsy, boring blowjob.

Well, another Ramone is gone... Spilling some YooHoo on the curb for his passing...

But I think people are waaay too harsh on Vincent Gallo. No matter what quirks he might have, he's done a lot of cool and creative stuff and is really a great example of what the NYC downtown scene once was. Once he's gone, I doubt few would ever be able to come close to filling his shoes or even be a fraction as creative as he--and others from his generation--have been. Downtown is now an outdoor mall and not much else nowadays.

He's an egomaniac, but he at least creates work that justifies that attitude.

Buffalo 66 and that's it my friend... and then to act as if he's the reincarnation of Orson Welles? no effin' way.

back to topic: i saw the Ramones live on either their 3rd or 4th "final" tour. In 11th grade I was more a Ministry or Pig Face kind of girl, and didn't know much about them. I had thought at the time: man, what a long song. But it was the whole friggin' set. good times. good times.

The comment about Eddie Vedder not only misplaced but obviously by a person who has no concept of what real music is all about. Vedder is an incredible artist who does a hell of a lot more than your average "star." Vedder is involved in numerous organizations and agencies working toward bettering society and the environment. What you call "leaching" is not that at all...it is really learning and being inspired by those who have set the path for rock and roll and alternative music such as the Who, the Ramones, and Neil Young to name a few. Do your research or better still keep your trap shut when you don't even know what you're talking about.
