R.I.P. Descendents' Frank Navetta Sadly, Frank Navetta, who co-founded the Descendents with Tony Lombardo and Bill Stevenson in 1979, died on Halloween "after becoming ill over the course of a few days." Read the surviving Descendents' statement. Blast Milo Goes To College. Explain to Wikipedia why his entry should not be deleted.

i was hoping some non "punk" sites would post about this.

huge loss.

Milo is one of the best albums of all time, and these guys really changed the game.

Turn off your ironically-dressed dance/pop/hip-hop flavor of the week and listen to this record today.

The importance of Milo Goes To College cannot be understated. A huge loss for music.

I agree with all of the above - "Milo Goes to College" is one of the best albums period; punk rock or not. Frank's sound was propulsive without being belligerent and powerful without calling attention to itself with bullshit pyrotechnics. If an award was given to the band that truly inspired the entirety of guitar-driven alternative rock, it would go to The Descendents and by virtue of founding the band, Frank. We will miss you dearly because true artists are rare.

I will not forget you Frank. I will always remember fishing off the Manhattan Beach Pier with you and helping to hide your guitar in the fireplace at one of your gigs.

Damn. I just looked up Frank on Google and got the news. I went to high school with him and we were the first punks there. Both of us got beat up a few times for it. I only saw Frank in the Descendants once at CBGB and never made it backstage. This makes me profoundly sad. Where are the details?
