Robert Plant And Alison Kraus Perform The Everly Brothers' "Gone, Gone, Gone" On The Today Show

Those early morning Today show sessions aren't always worth setting your alarm for, but every once in awhile there's a live collab worth checking (even if it turns out to be a disaster). The most recent in the line of watch-worthy duets came from Led man Robert Plant and Union Station siren Alison Krauss, performing the Everly's "Gone, Gone, Gone" for the benefit of Hoda Kotb (seems Matt and Meredith had already taken off, or at least passed on their intro privileges). And from the looks of it, Robert's back in fighting shape, set for that little 11/26 reunion with Jimmy, JPJ, and Kid Bonham.

Watch it at NBC. With all the Led Zep hubbub (aforementioned reunion, joining the iTunes age, etc.), Plant-o-philes may have (understandably) slept on the roots record he's put out with Alison, called Raising Sand (out now on Rounder). Got eight minutes? Watch the two talk it up here.

Bought this record on impulse yesterday. I was just curious about this pairing and was pleasantly surprised by the results.

“It's been quiet for so long. … The anticipation is incredibly overwhelming for me. I'm carrying it around like some kind of kryptonite, you know? And all I want to do is have some fun.”
