Rock Stars' Dream Shows
Calling Lou Barlow a "rock star" is a bit of a stretch, but he's among a handful of artists performing albums in their entirety in a series of London performances put together by All Of Tomorrow's Parties.
So The Guardian asked these bands which albums they'd most like to see live. Chan Marshall picked Bob Dylan's Desire, and apparently they call her Cat Power over there like it's her name.
Other highlights include Evan Dando's choice of High Time by MC5, and a predictably obscure choice from Jon Spencer: The Monks' Black Monk Time.
Unless I'm just behind the black monk times. I promise, no more puns, ever. I will also maybe break that promise.

If you ever get the chance, buy a ticket to one of the ATP festivals at Camber Sands in England. I went back in 2001 when Tortoise was curating. Best festival of my life, and the only one I'm likely to buy another ticket two. A thousand or so folks staying in chalets in the same compund on the British shore, great bands playing nearly 24/7 -- you can't beat it.

In all fairness to Jon Spencer, The Monks' "We Do Wie Du" is a pretty good song. It features a tuba, which is like catnip for Spencer.

Man, I'd love to see Blues Traveler perform "Four" in all it's glory live. Or maybe we can get Toad the Wet Sprocket or Marcy Playground for next year.

you ought to seek out "black monk time". the monks have a song on the nuggets box set AND some of the most ecstatically deranged vocals of the 60s.
