Rockers Trying To Unseat Bush

I wonder what Ben Gibbard and Bonnie Raitt talked about.

Here is the current schedule (PDF), which includes shows from Bright Eyes and My Morning Jacket in addition to the big name acts in the photo.

Anyone else notice a total oversight in visiting any southern states? And Florida doesn't count.

The shows, which will begin Oct. 1 in Pennsylvania, will take an unusual approach: as many as six concerts on a single day in cities across the states expected to decide the November presidential race. Other stops on the tour are North Carolina, Ohio, Michigan, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Wisconsin and the key state in 2000, Florida.

I thought the problem wasn't that Florida doesn't count but that they couldn't count.

It's good to see that old pampered hippies can still get a job.

Um... it's a great idea and all, but I don't have any desire to see the majority of those artists. Jackson Browne? He's still alive?

exactly! For several of these artists (NOT all!) I think most of the people that would go see them already have their minds made up for November. I don't see these shows as making a dent, but at this point each party is grasping for straws.

This concert just makes it really hard for us conservative types to enjoy music. I'm glad that it's not coming near Massachusetts, I don't want to choose between funding "progressive causes" and R.E.M....

Further on the Death Cab front, I just saw a commercial for Bell Express Vu/The Olympics that featured "Transatlanticism" whilst tons of people did the wave. Truly bizarre.
