To Stereogum, From Mr. Stapp

We got the greatest Cease & Desist about our Scott Stapp & Kid Rock Sex Tape post.

"By this letter, Mr. Stapp demands that you remove immediately the video clip from all websites that stereogum.com or any related entity owns or controls."
OK, Stapp -- you win this time (remember, this guy beat up 311; we don't wanna see him in court). The YouTube clip has been removed. Good luck getting it off the rest of the Internet. I hope this ends in flowers.

In other musician sex tape news, charges are dropped against a Sacramento sexual predator because the judge won't allow prosecution's use of the term "fixing to do an 'R. Kelly." This is gonna make an awesome ripped-from-the-bloglines Law & Order: SVU.

Allow me to make the obligatory comeback for you as your comedy attorney in Scott v. Scott:

Stereogum will remove your video.
Now you, Mr. Stapp, must destroy ANY videos (solo or with Creed) with you in it. I would ask that you destroy the music too, but we need endless reserves of cheap laughter.

Too late, Stappski. We've all already seen it -- the damage is done. The fun part is, these two losers are only making it worse with all their squawking.

"The prosecutor's office said Kelly's name is now listed in the 'Urban Dictionary' as a verb that means to have sex with an underage girl."

Impressive.

I want to find this Urban Dictionary. If there is anyone out there that can point me in the proper direction please do. It sound fascinating.

I imagine that ODB is a verb in the "Urban Dictionary" that means to pull up to a welfare office in a limo to get your food stamps.

stapp's music is infinitely more offensive than any videotape circulating of him in a compromising position with women of low self-esteem. fuck i hate that guy and his shitty band.

If only there was a video of him getting punk'd...I think that would've been more entertaining.

Oh, like your precious Arcade Fire are so great? Screw them and screw all your precious Canadian indie-rock bands!

What's so bad about Scott Stapp? That he sold 5 million CDs? That he's made millions of people happy with his rock? That he settled down with a lovely lady? That he's not ugly like the guy with glasses from your precious Barenaked Ladies?

Seems to me you're all jealous of Scott Stapp. Why? Cause he's enjoying life and rockin' the casbah! Choke on it, petty indie rock babies! He'll be around long after your flavor-of-the-day pop pussies are long forgotten! Scott Stapp takes shits that rock harder than the New Pornographers!

What's so bad about Scott Stapp? Nothing, really, if you think of him as comic relief.

Y'know, my brother once mentioned he thought Scott Stapp sounded like he was taking a rock-hard shit while singing. It's nice to have that opinion seconded, Joey.

What legitimate complaint does the lawyer have against Stereogum? The file is hosted by YouTube, not by Stereogum. You basically have a hyperlink to a file that is hosted on another server. Now I'm no lawyer, but I don't see how that constitutes infringement. Once the lawyer takes care of getting the video removed from YouTube, all links to that file will be gone from *all* blogs.

'Cos we all wanna be like Scott stapp, an alcoholic who depended on drugs and starts brawls with other, equally if not more respectable and inventive bands like 311. yeah, that's exactly it.

What's wrong with Scott Stapp? Two words: Pickle mouth. Ever since Eddie Vedder started singing like he had a pickle in his mouth a decade or so ago, there have been a whole string of pickle mouth singers. What's sad is that it's STILL going: Creed, Staind, you name it... all suffer from singers with pickle mouth.
