Booty Music

Yahoo Music conducted a poll asking people what song they like to play while getting freaky. The Sun reported the story, which comes with a one sentence explanation from a music psychologist:

One function of music is to seduce.
But the doctor's name is Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic. C'mon. Premuzic?! How are we supposed to believe that? Anyway, here's the list:
01. Marvin Gaye – "Sexual Healing"
02. U2 – "With Or Without You"
03. Barry White – "My First My Last My Everything"
04. Serge Gainsbourg & Jane Birkin – "Je T’aime"
05. Chris Isaac – "Wicked Game"
06. Al Green – "Let’s Stay Together"
07. Phyllis Nelson – "Move Closer"
08. INXS – "I Need You Tonight"
09. Madonna – "Justify My Love"
10. Kylie Minogue – "Slow"
11. Justin Timberlake -"Sexyback"
12. Massive Attack - "Teardrop"
13. Portishead - "Glorybox
14. Jimi Hendrix - "Foxy Lady"
15. Goldfrapp - "Number 1"
Marvin Gaye topping a list of sex songs? Okay. But "With Or Without You"? That's some melodramatic fucking! And oh we gotta hear what indie nation screws to. Sigur Rós? The Knife? Animal Collective? Be honest, you kinky freaks.

T Rex. That's the only band I'd even consider listening to while Banging a Gong. You should never try to soundtrack that kind of stuff with any serious thought to it. At least T Rex has the class to be sexy with a sense of humor to it.

If someone brought me home and put Marvin Gaye on, I'd be out the door so quick. And I LOVE Marvin Gaye.

Once I was under the covers with company, and just put on whatever record I had left on the turntable earlier. It turned out to be This Mortal Coil. Had I not jumped up and pulled the plug as quickly as I did, I'd probably be impotent to this day.

what i hate is when you pick something and a few songs in start thinking, "shit, this was a bad choice." you don't want to look like a douche and stop, but the music nerd in you won't be able to concentrate for the rest of event until you do.

I do believe you solicited for "kinky freaks." If so, you should know that nothing from Indie Nation has worked as well in a BDSM dungeon as "Ágætis Byrjun" by Sigur Rós. Sensory depravation and impact play go so well with those crazy Icelanders. The buildup of Olsen Olsen leads nicely into a chillout/aftercare track with coda. And there are about three different songs perfect for waxplay. Ah, memories.

Portishead's 'Dummy', Massive Attack's 'Mezzanine', Sigur Ros, some of the more low-key Mark Lanegan or Greg Dulli (esp. 'Circus is Leaving Town' off 'Ballad of the Broken Seas'), and Ani DiFranco's 'Pulse'-- generally Ani is not DOIN' IT music, but I guarantee 'Pulse' will get you laid. Miles Davis, Getz/Gilberto, Coltrane are easy fallbacks.

personally, I like Yo La Tengo's And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out ... but I'd like to address something funky that's happened to me. I'm a lady, and I like to get down to music, and sometimes I meet boys who do, too.

Not once, but TWICE, I have been with boys who decided to set the mood with George Michael's "Freedom '99." That specific song. One of them picked it out of a whole bookshelf full of other, much better CDs to fuck to. I'm so puzzled by this ... heterosexual/questioning men, can you answer why this song is so popular!? I don't get it.

p.s. both of these dudes turned out to be complete fucktards.
