NME Loves Gossip, Doesn't Care About Kanye West
Go go Gossip girl. Beth Ditto is the first bird to top NME's annual "Cool List." The Brit rag's 2005 countdown placed Alex Turner at #1; the Arctic Monkey's dropped 31 points (the science behind this is complicated). But don't feel bad for him. Last year's third place, Kanye West, is off the list entirely. Not cool! Despite the $1 million video and outspoken support of miscegenation? NME, you just lost all credibility. Oh, and Noel Gallagher is not pleased.

I LOVE THE BETH DITTO!! I met her once at a show in Baton Rouge. The absolute nicest musician I've met in years; she stayed around after the show and talked to everybody that was there, signing records and just generally being cool (even though she was sick with the flu).
I'm not sure when the Goxxip got big on the island but more power to them. It may have been the righteous dance-punx of the last record, which seems more British(youth) friendly than their normal blues.
