Eight Little Boxes
We stopped watching Weeds after a few episodes this season. It just got too silly. But, Showtime's high comedy does deliver a cool, new version of Malvina Reynolds's theme every week. The season kicked off with Elvis Costello's funky, acoustic take. Since then, some of our favorite artists have taken liberties with the folk tune's lyrics and arrangement. Listen to versions by Regina Spektor, Tim DeLaughter, Submarines and others here. For tonight's season finale, Tom Maxwell and Ken Mosher of Squirrel Nut Zippers give the song a go. Showtime's site doesn't have Death Cab or Jenny Lewis's versions -- which is too bad 'cause those were our favorites -- but maybe when the season 2 DVD comes out, we'll compile a "Little" subversive megamix for y'all.

I can't believe you stopped watching. It's truly one of the best shows at the moment.
Aside from that, the covers are amazing.

It's still pretty good, but it just tries too hard, you know? Do love Zooey Deschanel, though.

Don't know why you stopped watching. It's the best show on right now. Well, it was, after tonight's season finale. Plus, MLP is damn fine.

I don't think I've EVER laughed harder than when Kevin Nealon was dancing/karate-moving onstage at the pot convention (episode 3, seas. 2?).
That Regina Spektor theme cover was terrific - it just SUCKED that her show was sold out in my town the same night.

That link leads to a Studio 60 getting cancelled story.

yeah, link = no weeds themes.
i've only kept watching it because it's gotten more and more ridiculous, like watching a train wreck... can't look the other way.
of course, someone seems to have finally called my YouTube source of weeds merriment on account of copyright infringement... eh, knew it would happen eventually. so, beyond episode nine of this season, i've missed the fun covers.
i think you should have a cover contest for that song. anyone know if malvina reynolds is even still alive? i wonder what she thinks, if she is.
