Slash On Chinese Democracy Leaker Saul Hudson's still got feelings for Axl. About the recently arrested CD leak-blogger, Slash tells the LA Times: "I hope he rots in jail. It's going to affect the sales of the record, and it's not fair. The Internet is what it is, and you have to deal with it accordingly, but I think if someone goes and steals something, it's theft."

If datas were stock with better security there wouldn't be suck things. So I think it would be a good thing if the industry invest more in the security of their systems than in prosecution.

MoreoverI dont't think it will affect the sales that much because it wasnt the full album that has been released.

He might feel differently if a blogger was drumming up support for Slash's Snake Pit.

Another example of an artist/industry punishing the people that actually care about their product. Its a new world and they need to realize it and embraced it like Radiohead, Wilco, NIN, etc.

Once again, a popular band proves that they're corporate whores who will attack their fans on command to preserve the record label's profit. The labels are the main ones losing money due to piracy, and it's really pathetic that they've convinced so many has-beens like Kid Rock, Metallica, and Guns N Roses that file sharing is significantly cutting into their profit.

What the labels don't want to admit is that file sharing is murdering their business model more than it's hurting the artists. Usually the record label rakes in profit, while the artist's meager percentage goes to paying off their advance(aka "loan") that was spent on recording the album and hiring a hot producer. Major label careerist bands generally make their profit through merchandise sales and live appearances, NOT record sales.

In the case of Chinese Democracy, maybe they're pissed that everyone got to hear that the new album is going to be sub-Stabbing Westward horseshit. In that case, the leak actually WILL negatively affect sales.

Theft is theft and he should "rot in jail" ... so by that black/white rationale, Slash and the majority of his bandmates should also rot in jail for drug use?

Funny how people get HARD ON CRIME when it affects them, but claim no responsibility otherwise.

Slash, suck my ass.. millionaires bitching about pennies are about as relevant as anything you've done since 1989.... not at all.

Seems to me that the suck factor is going to hurt sales worse than any leak.

Just sayin.'

Slash and Kid Rock (AND Gene Simmons, too) need to ask John McCain how this internet shit works, because they're oblivious to how nearly every musician benefits from the internet at large (grand generalization, I know). If only idiocy and a gaping lack of business savvy were a punishable crimes...

Nice try, Slash, but you're still not going to get a cold and delicious Dr. Pepper.

Apparently the folks at Dr. Pepper are now also excluding the dude who leaked the album from their promo deal. Now only Slash, Buckethead, and Kevin Cogil will not enjoy a free Dr. Pepper...well, Slash, Buckethead, Kevin Cogil, and everybody who is fully aware that both Dr. Pepper and Chinese Democracy suck whether they're free or not.
